Hey all,
I’ll try keep this short! Just wanting advise or positive stories if possible? Apologies if I haven’t posted in the correct forum.

I ended up at the EPU yesterday after bleeding a little at the weekend. TBH, as there wasn’t much blood and it was brown I was feeling postive. However I was advised there wasn’t a heartbeat :( (yesterday when I attended I should have been exactly 12w, but apparently according to the size, the baby died a couple of weeks ago just after we had our last private scan). To say I was shocked was an understatement. This is our first and so it is simply heartbreaking.

The EPU gave me 3 options, pass it naturally (really don’t want to go through that, plus who knows how long would it take or when it would happen?!), medical assistance (have heard horror stories with this and is basically passing at home too) or D&C. I opted for D&C as they offered me an appointment at the end of this week and atleast I’ll be asleep and not know it’s happening, I just want it over and done with so I can move on.

My question is, how long should we wait before we try again? I’ve read contradicting things stating you can try straight away (but wait for atleast one period) or you should wait atleast 3 months/cycles? We are emotionally ready as it is something we deeply want. Did anyone else have D&C and start trying straight away? Were you successful if you did? Or were you advised to wait atleast 3 months/cycles?

Thanks for reading x

Sorry for your loss @AlwaysSeekingComfort

I also had a mmc after seeing a heartbeat. I had an erpc surgical procedure and it was the best option for me. I was told to wait one month before ttc again (for dating reasons) but tried again straight away. I was pregnant eight months after my procedure again with my now daughter.

Hello @Chanel05 thank you

Sorry for yours also but good to hear you have a little girl now 🌸

Ok so you was told 1 month, that’s good and reassuring to know. Thank you

I unfortunately had surgery 3 times and was always told to wait until after your first period - which can be slightly longer than 1 month. However I do know some people don't wait at all.

Chanel05 · 12/05/2021 16:55

To be honest, on reflection, it really is better just to wait that month. I was so so so stressed doing ovulation sticks and I had a 43 day cycle! My cycles were messed up for ages after.

After next period I was advised. Sorry for your loss

Sorry to hear about your loss
I was told to wait a month. I decided to wait 2 as I wasn't ready but was thankful to conceive in the 3rd month

They advise waiting for next period, but this is just for dating reasons (I believe). As long as you have negative tests you should be good to go.
I had medical management and they suggested the same but felt like I didn't want to waste any more time and was so desperate to be pregnant, so we tried again as soon as we could.
Sorry for what you're going through xx

So sorry for your loss I had a D&C last year and was advised to wait untill I had my first period after it mine came back 3 weeks later and we got pregnant again that month but it was a chemical pregnancy. I would advise to give your self some time to heal mentally and physically

NoFashion · 12/05/2021 19:54

The same happened to me.

I also didn't want to pass the miscarriage myself. So I opted for the D&C.

But things started on their own and I ended up miscarrying naturally at home before the D&C appointment date.

In the end I'm glad it all happened that way as I knew my body had done what it wanted to.

Tried again right away and was pregnant immediately with my eldest. (Had been trying over a year before the miscarriage pregnancy)

With a D&C I'd have been too worried about infection etc to try. So for me I'm very glad it worked the way it did without intervention in the end.

Hello everyone, thanks so much for all of your messages above!

All very positive and seem to be given the same advise r.e a month!

Maybe I’ll see how we go but just want Friday to be done with.

Thanks again for all the stories/advise. It’s such a shame that it’s such a common thing to go through! 💐

Hey
I had a misscarriage at 17 weeks. I had a d&c . I wanted to know how long should i wait to try again.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 09/09/2022 06:03

After next period is best for letting your body get back to a normal. The only thing you must not do is have sex whilst still bleeding from ERPC surgery as this is an infection risk.

I'm so sorry OP, I've been in your shoes (exactly! My first pregnancy ended at 11 weeks after a healthy scan at 10 weeks) and it is the worst thing that has ever happened to me, so painful (emotionally)
