When to set up tommee tippee prep machine

This may be a silly question, but did you set up your Tommee Tippee prep machines before or once baby arrives?

My due date is tomorrow and wanted to make sure it's all working okay.

However, I'm not sure if once the filter is installed it can be left without water in there?

Do I just wait till little one arrives?

Any advice would be fab thanks!

I got one on eBay when I weaned my twins off breastfeeding at 8 weeks - I got the night and day one - it's been a godsend!

I'd say get your partner to set it up for you whilst you are at the hospital as you have to run a cycle for the install of a new filter etc and you don't want to do that with a screaming newborn waiting to be fed.

If you've gone with a second hand one like mine I also ran a clean cycle de scale cycle and filter install cycle so did take a bit longer but I'd say no more than about 30 mins

I don't think the water is supposed to sit in there for several days so I'd only set it up if you intend on using it the same day or next day

Forgot to say you need to put water in the unit as part of the filter install

You could do it now if you wanted i think, you would just empty and refill the water depending on when you are home with baby

We have a prep from our last baby which i plan to reuse but i will probably use some ready made formula at first as the smallest feed the prep makes is 4oz which is a lot for a tiny one

I was going to say as pp, we are planning on setting up ours once home as its a min of 4oz so i don't think we'll be using it straight away :)

We did it on day 2 or 3 at home? We used up the supply of £££ mini pre-made bottles that I had bought and then got it going rather than buy more. As someone said, the smallest feed you can make is 4oz which is waaaay more than a newborn needs at that stage.

We also ended up having to use a YouTube tutorial as the written instructions were too much for us in our sleep deprived states.
