2/5 palp with first LO - can baby un-engage?

Once LO has engaged, is that it, or could it 'float' out again? And once LO has got this far, what are chances of things happening sooner rather than later? Lots of mild period pains and more painful stabbing sensations in fanjo and bum at 38 weeks.

OOh, you gave birth quite quickly after engaging, motherhurdicure! Like you said, though, a shame there's no guarantee that'll be the case - trying to resign myself to the fact that LO may arrive imminently - or not for another 4 weeks!!! And yes, it's my first. Can you tell???

My LO is engaged too (only 1/5th palpable) and i was asking my MW yesterday the "how long is a piece of string" question - y'know, the one that goes "well how long til baby arrives now then?!". Of course i realise it's an unanswerable question, but i feel it's sooo close, but yet could be another 3 weeks!!

(38+4)

Yup I'm there too - 38+1, baby 2/5ths engaged as of three days ago. All the twinges as described but no way of knowing if it'll come tonight or in 4 weeks time. Wish I had a crystal ball so could be prepared. Last time had an elective c/s at 39 weeks so knew the date from about 36 weeks and am not used to this not knowing!

I'm 38+4 with my 3rd and I've just seen my MW. She said I'm 2/5 engaged but reckons that I'll be late because the other two were

I did at that point consider making a noose for myself
