Blood Pressure

Does anyone know what makes your blood pressure go up?

And what you can do to bring it back down?

Apparently it is normal for it to go up a bit at the end (I am 38 weeks), but I am worried that they wont let me have my home birth if it goes up any more and they are checking it next week to see.

Reducing your salt intake and not getting stress generally keeps your blood pressure lower

Hope this helps

Lie on your left side for half an hour before the check - not sure how practical this wil be though

bumbleweed - I had the same problem. My midwife told me to stay in bed when she visited to check my BP (I had a private midwife). I still got my home birth.

I wont be able to lie down before my next appointment - I will be chasing after a 2 year old for the 3 hours before my appointment, then driving to the surgery and waiting to be seen!

But I get that the general jist is to avoid stress and rest as much as possible!
