Is this a miscarriage? :(

Hello ladies my last period was 21st March which would make me 7 weeks. I went for an early scan and a private scan due to pain and light bleeding , both showed a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole or heartbeat so I'm going back on Saturday. I went for another private scan today for a second opinion and the sonographer was really rude, she said I'm 4 weeks 5 days, I feel like she really rushed through the scan and didn't look properly but she told me all she could see was an empty gestational sac with nothing inside. If my previous 2 scans last Saturday and this Wednesday which has just been showed a yolk sac but now today just an empty gestational sac, does this mean I've lost the baby? :( tia

Hi @Annamiller12. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's an awful limbo to be in. That sonographer sounds so insensitive.

Do you know when you ovulated? If you're not tracking, is it possible you ovulated later, which would bring you closer to their dates?

Has the bleeding stopped? There are lots of reasons for bleeding and pain in early pregnancy and it doesn't always mean the worst. It also sounds like you can't quite trust the most recent private scan if you feel the sonographer rushed.

you could be as early as the rude sonographer says! Which would make sense of what they can see what.

Is the bleeding a lot? Is it filling a pad? Do you have cramps? Is it only when you wipe? Has the bleeding stopped?

A lot of women have a light bleed in pregnancy it is very common so doesn’t always mean your out.
Have you took a test to see how light/dark the line is?

Thank you ladies, the bleeding has stopped completely. I just took I digital that's saying 2-3 weeks pregnant. I'm just concerned as the previous two scans saw a yolk sac and the rude one today said the gestational sac was empty x

Tests remain positive until miscarriage is complete I had a blighted ovum last year and the tests showed positive until I passed the sac I bled on and off for 12 days

Was there a lot of blood?
I would ring your GP tomorrow and ask for referral to EPU to get properly checked out.

There wasn't a lot of blood just a bit of light pink, I'm so fed up I just want to know either way 😔x

The problem with early scans is that you often can't get a definite answer at this stage. Fingers crossed for you OP Flowers

I've just done another tests (held my urine for longer) and it says pregnant 3+ weeks. I'm so confused x

Take one in the morning as that’s always best.
I do think your very much pregnant and your just abit earlier than worked out from LMP

If it was just pale pink that’s good hopefully

Your hormone levels remain high after a miscarriage so pregnancy tests at this stage are not necessarily an indicator I’m afraid

Would also second the advice to get an EPU referral and another scan to put your mind at rest as you might be a bit earlier on than you think

Thanks ladies, I'm not sure the EPU would do anything as I have my next NHS scan next Monday so they will probably tell me to just wait for that 😔x

Hi, just wanted to say I had a few episodes of bleeding early on, just when I wiped and decided against an early scan with my GP as it may cause worry as it's hard to see so early. For me, all was ok and I am currently 25weeks.
