Spotting

Hi all, I'm currently 7+5 and last weekend I was advised to go to A&E as I had spotting and cramps. I was referred to the EPU for an early scan and everything was as it should be, seen baby's heartbeat etc however since then I've been spotting on and off with cramps, its mostly been pink discharge (sorry if TMI).

I haven't had my booking appointment yet so can't contact a midwife for advice, the dr that seen me in EPU said they wouldn't need to see me again as everything was ok so I don't know if I should ring EPU again or book a private reassurance scan? I don't want the EPU to think I'm a hypochondriac but I don't know anyone who has had this and as I've never been pg I don't know if this is normal.

Any advice would be great Sad

I had spotting on 6 different occasions throughout my first trimester! Baby is doing fine.
When does the spotting occur? Mine usually happened after being on the toilet for a while, they put it down to a sensitive cervix.
As long as it's not heavy and no bad cramping I wouldn't worry too much, spotting is more common than you think. But obviously do get yourself check if you're worried! Hope you're ok x

It seems to always be in the evening time, not sure if that makes a difference? I have had a cervical erosion in the past but haven't been examined to find out whether or not that's what causing this. Thank you, its reassuring to know you also had it and little one is fine x

@SC22 I hope you’re okay?

Just thought I would drop you a message as I have been in the same position. I’m now 16 weeks, I have bled 6 times from week 8 to 15. Baby is fine! I’ve always been advised to call GP or EPU no matter how many times you’ve been scanned before. It’s just a precaution.

I also had cervical erosion in the past (on the pill) which went away. I insisted on an internal this week after all this spotting (I was so anxious) and they’ve found the erosion has returned. So maybe yours could be back and that’s what causing your spotting?

Wishing you the best of luck x

@Dixie1488 thank you for replying. It’s definitely nice to hear positive stories. I’m going to ring EPU tomorrow, I wasn’t told to contact them again so wasn’t sure what to do. I might see if they’ll scan me again and examine me to check things to hopefully put my mind at rest. I’ve no date for my 12 week scan and I’m only 8 weeks tomorrow so it feels like a lifetime away! X

@SC22 I think that’s a good idea 😊 They may just tell you to monitor the spotting or they may check you. I worried I was “hassling” them by ringing but they told me I was doing the right thing.

Aww I know how you feel. The countdown to the 12 week scan feels sooooo long!!
