14 weeks and still exhausted?!

Hi Mums,

Suppose I am just looking for similar stories so I’m not alone! Found out I was expecting mid March around 5 ish weeks, and I’m now 14+2 and I’m still feeling completely exhausted - even walking up the stairs can take it out of me?!

I was really drained early on with severe nausea and headaches, and the nausea has since eased (thank goodness) and I definitely have a little bit more energy I still find myself going to bed super early, or just lying on the sofa watching TV for hours because I have no energy for anything else. I am still going for an hour long walk with the dog because I know I need to keep active, but once I’ve done that I am done for the rest of the day. Anyone else feeling completely drained of energy and just shattered all the time?

This is my first pregnancy and a surprise baby, so I don’t think I was really prepared at all.

I'm the same, 15 weeks, 3rd baby/4th pregnancy, and the tiredness is not letting up. I'm constantly nauseous which doesn't help, everything is a struggle.

Tilly18101 · 08/05/2021 17:35

@Garman sorry to hear you are also struggling! I don’t know about you but I feel so useless, don’t think I’ve ever felt like this before - it’s just constant!

Yeah I feel useless, struggling to get through today with my dc until dh gets home and I can lie down 😴

notinthestarsigns · 08/05/2021 17:45

I’m the same at 25 weeks, I think the burst of energy people talk about in the second trimester is a myth for a lot of women!

Folklore9074 · 08/05/2021 17:46

No nausea here but still really tired with naps most days. I'm 15+4.

Tilly18101 · 08/05/2021 18:17

@notinthestarsigns I wonder if it’s a myth they tell us to give us hope that we’ll feel better as we get further along? Grin

@Folklore9074 Can’t beat an afternoon nap can you - although still doesn’t cure the exhaustion does it!

Yep 15w today and permanently shattered!! 😴

lolateddy · 08/05/2021 18:38

I'm 14+1 and still feel knackered too, I've actually just woken up from a 3 hour nap!
I really thought I would feel better by now too.

MeadowHay · 08/05/2021 18:58

Not wanting to scare you but I think lots of people are exhausted all the way through pregnancies, I certainly was with my first. I had HG initially so I wasn't back to a more normal me until me about 24 weeks anyway but even after that I was definitely more tired than I was pre-pregnancy. It persisted throughout and if anything got even worse after about 34/35 weeks when I had all the extra weight to carry around too. I'm 18 weeks now and my HG is recovering but I'm still on a high dose of meds and have symptoms so am still exhausted of course. I'm expecting to be shattered the whole way through like last time if not worse given I have a 3 yr old now too to run about after and disturb my sleep!

andypandy9 · 08/05/2021 20:00

I felt very tiered in early pregnancy but total exhaustion from 12-18 weeks. I was napping twice a day and just didnt want to do anything at all! I'm nearly 21 weeks now and feel 100 times better! Still more tiered than usual so not sure I'd call it a burst of energy but definitely better.

Hope things improve for you soon OP!

Tilly18101 · 08/05/2021 20:37

Thanks ladies, seems like I am not alone at a least and it’s quite normal to feel like this, just wish I had a little more energy to keep busy - feel like such a lazy lump on the sofa but I don’t mind the endless cups of tea from hubby!

@Tilly18101 I feel the same! I want to crack on with some bits on the house but I just can't find the energy.
I feel horrendous when I'm over tired too! I really want to start enjoying this pregnancy x

StrawberriCream · 08/05/2021 20:49

I was constantly shattered until I was put onto a high dose iron tablet, felt like I'd been hit by exhaustion constantly. It's a lot better now unless I forget it

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 08/05/2021 20:51

@notinthestarsigns I agree. I’m 25 weeks and feel exactly the same. I think all the wonderful things that happen 2nd trimester are a lie. The energy, the good skin, the good hair... it’s all bollocks Grin

mariebaby3 · 08/05/2021 21:02

I’ve been exhausted since 6 weeks, now 30 Grin

notinthestarsigns · 08/05/2021 21:15

@MikeWozniaksGloriousTache ha yep! There is too much pressure on women to “enjoy” pregnancy I think! Just getting through it and surviving will do me!

Tilly18101 · 08/05/2021 21:45

@notinthestarsigns I think I’m feeling the same way! I’m counting down to Nov already and I know I shouldn’t wish time away, but I hate this feeling! Mind you We’ll still be exhausted once baby is here, haha!

I'm nearly 19 weeks and still feel exhausted! Yesterday I had two naps in the day :) up until 16 weeks was probably the worst and now I have a bit more energy to do things round the house.

shivawn · 09/05/2021 19:09

Are you working OP? I feel like i had more energy when I had to get out to work every day and act normal in front of colleagues! After I told them I was pregnant at 17 weeks they put me on paid vulnerable leave and I'm definitely more lethargic now for being at home all day with nothing to occupy me!

Sunflowerx · 09/05/2021 22:32

18 weeks here, just woke up for a nap and ready to go to bed in half an hour! Thankfully the sickness has gone from the first trimester but my tiredness is definitely sticking!

Jurassiclover · 10/05/2021 10:52

Almost 27 weeks here and still exhausted OP! I've given up on any burst of energy hahaha

Woke up this morning and slept so well but still felt absolutely exhausted. Managed to vacate to the sofa and stick the tv on. I don't even have the energy to read! I had planned to get on with the housework I'm behind on but I can only do the bare minimum. I'm wondering if it's my iron levels so I have started taking spatone along with my other vits so we'll see how that goes! I don't think it helps that I can't really eat a healthy diet at the moment.

LittleTiger007 · 10/05/2021 16:22

38 weeks here and Exhausted! There was a brief period between 20 and 28 weeks when I wasn’t tired!

Tilly18101 · 10/05/2021 20:32

Oh ladies! You have all my sympathy too, I slept about 10 hours last night with only one wee break (yay) and I am still so tired today too! I really hope it gets easier soon, I mean I absolutely don’t mind being exhausted as well get our lovely baby at the end but my god this level is another level 😂
