No Fetal Pole seen 7 weeks

Hey Everyone,

I attended an early scan as have history of ectopic, lmp 15/03, made me about 7 weeks 4 days at date of scan, had an abdominal scan and could only see a sac and yolk, no fetal pole. Nurse asked me if I have my dates wrong, I told her no, I know when last period was, she said no you don’t ovulate on your period, you’re measuring 5 weeks, everything looks healthy, come back in 10 days.

I am beside myself with worry and can’t think of anything other than my situation. I have a private vaginal scan booked for Monday for second opinion.

Anyone had a situation like this?

@loznrog I am so sorry to hear this. Sending you lots of virtual hugs. Have they given you options on what is next? Have you done another pregnancy test out of interest. Not that it tells you anything definitive as obviously scan does but if it has got lighter it sometimes suggests a bleed is on its way.

Same situation here. LPM was 8/3, ovu test positive on the 23/3 and BFP on the 7/4. Had a private scan two days ago (8w5d) and could see sac and yolk, but not fetal pole nor HB (they did both abdominal and internal scan). I have been referred to hospital and I have a scan there tomorrow, but holding no hope. I have accepted this pregnancy will not go ahead. I hope you all have better outcomes.

@CAG14 thank you and no I haven’t, perhaps I will do in a few days. I’m hoping my body does this quickly as it’s this but I find hard, just want to get it out of the way.

@jade0881thanks jade. When is your next scan? My next appointment with early pregnancy unit is next Monday for a scan, where it will just be confirmed.

@Annamiller12 her lmp was 8 weeks ago and heartbeat is usually detected between 5-6 weeks so sadly I think the op is right about the outcome. (Hope I am wrong)

I’m not feeling great today, I started to bleed this morning and have very bad cramps, hoping this will be over soon, feeling very teary.

Aww hun I'm really sorry.. yes I did have my scan yesterday. Everything is well with baby... (sorry I didn't wanna have to say this as I don't feel comfortable with the situation your going through)

I haven’t phoned them yet, I know I need to but I just keep getting upset, will call them some point this afternoon.I imagine I will have to go at some point x

@Loznrog I am really sorry for your loss. I am going through a very similar situation right now. I had my follow up scan yesterday which confirmed no progress sinxe one week ago. I decided to go with medical management and have had cramps and bleeding all night.
It's normal to be emotional. But please make sure you go to ER or contact you OB asap. They will understand if you are emotional. I couldn't hold back my tears yesterday either and my doctor was very understanding. The most improtant thing right now is that you recover physically as soon as possible so that you can focus on your emotional recovery.

@Loznrog I am very sorry 😞 I am on the same boat, no goods news yesterday. I have to go back for a second scan next week, to confirm what I think it is pretty obvious now, but it looks like my pregnancy stopped at 5w6d ( I would be now 9w2d) xx

I'm not doing so well right now as found out on Monday my baby has fetal bradycardia and I've started bleeding yesterday, things aren't looking good unfortunately xx
