Hi,

I had blood tests on Tuesday and then this morning. They have stayed the same.

I should be about 7 weeks. I had a private early scan where a gestational sac was seen but nothing else.

The lady that called to tell me said I'm basically miscarrying or having an ectopic. She was quite blunt with me and said with those levels it's not looking good.

I am absolutely terrified of the thought of ectopic and surgery or it reducing my chances of ever having a baby. I'm 34 and have no children.

My levels were 13000 so quite high. Does this mean more likely ectopic or miscarriage? The fact they haven't gone down but stayed the same I am so confused!

Hi,
I’m really sorry to hear you are going through this.
First things first, don’t panic... I am 34, have had an ectopic pregnancy and am expecting again... so there is hope 😊😊
I wouldn’t think it could ectopic if they have seen the gestational sac - an ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy outside of the uterus/in an unknown location.
Do you have any pain/bleeding? If you do, please, please push to be seen again as you don’t want to leave it too late in case it is ectopic and ruptures.
Shoulder pain can be a bit of a myth - most people don’t get that until minutes before they collapse, but bowel pain, bloating, bleeding, and one sided pain are all things you should be wary of.

I had a ruptured ectopic in September last year - they removed my tube and I was devastated at what this might mean... I was told I couldn’t try for 3 months, but my cycles returned to normal straight away and I conceived on my first cycle trying... from the side I lost my tube, so there is plenty of hope.
What is your next step? Have they told you what happens next?

@SillyBry Thanks for your reply Smile.

I'm going in this morning to confirm failed pregnancy. I've to get a scan.

I have no pain or bleeding whatsoever!

Sorry to hear that this happened to you, it's so devastating and happens so much more than people realise. Good luck with your pregnancy! X

Sorry you are going through this

I've had 2 ectopics both ruptured and I lost both tubes - I'm a bit surprised the lady even used the term"ectopic" if she saw a sac in your uterus - I'd be a little bit worried about her expertise....to me it doesn't sound like an ectopic at all but unfortunately it does sound like a miscarriage x

@hopefulsunshine11 Wishing you all the best for today - big hugs to you. It's so hard - but like you say, when you mention it to people, its surprisingly common... we just don't talk about it. I was very open about my ectopic and so many people contacted me to tell me that they had had losses etc :-(
On the bright side, I'm really sure it's not ectopic, which means your body will be ready to try again when you feel mentally ready. Take it easy, be kind to yourself and if you want to buy a big bar of chocolate and hide in bed to eat it, just do it! I did!! And then 2.5 weeks on, I was suddenly hit with a renewed urge to look after my body, get fit and well... but some comfort time is totally allowed :-)
