Guys I can't stop drinking Pepsi max, I am having 1 can a day, do you think this is too much. I am 9 weeks pregnant and have read that you should stay away from certain sweeteners and limit your intake altogether - but - I feel like it says that about everything.

I am also type 1 diabetic so I limit sugar already as is.

I am also a gamer girl lol. And I have read that I shouldn't be gaming.

I don't want to harm the beautiful baby growing inside of me, and I am so grateful for him/her. I also want to have a little release before my freedom is taken lol. It is a shame to give everything up, what's your take on it mamas?

It's absolutely fine

Don't understand about the gaming?

Habbyhadno · 06/05/2021 13:05

There's a caffeine free one, maybe switch to that. It tastes exactly the same.

Elmo311 · 06/05/2021 13:05

I drank Pepsi Max throughout both pregnancies. It's fine!

Lou98 · 06/05/2021 13:06

I've drank Diet Coke throughout my pregnancy as I normally would, I'm currently 37+4 weeks with a healthy baby.

Don't understand the gaming thing but the juice is absolutely fine

Pinkflipflop85 · 06/05/2021 13:09

Don't understand the relevance of the gaming comment.

Pepsi Max has more caffeine than coffee. If you are sticking to just the one then it should be ok.

No, it doesn't.

A 330ml can of Pepsi max contains approx 42.6mg of caffeine.

A 330ml cup of coffee contains approx 131.7mg of caffeine.

That's a big difference

The amount of caffeine in coke is surprisingly low. A can or two a day will be just fine. Less than a cup of coffee!

RandomMess · 06/05/2021 14:49

The sweetener is very addictive and makes you crave sugar and sweet things. If you can use pregnancy to motivate yourself to ditch it completely I would really recommend that you do.

This may help OP it’s from NHS website.

I was just going from the inforgraphic I was given that placed the caffeine content of a small bottle of Pepsi max higher than a normal cup of coffee.

Clearly the information on it was wrong.

Pepsi max is fine if you're having it within your daily allowance for caffeine.

I switched to diet coke caffeine free so I don't have to worry about it though as I like a coffee and a tea a day plus (probably too much) chocolate.

Chelyanne · 06/05/2021 18:02

Gaming will only be a problem if you get engrossed in it and not get enough sleep.
Will be good to start limiting it now as you'll not have as much time for it with a newborn.

lamptastic · 06/05/2021 18:22

Sounds like you've been reading a whole bunch of rubbish.

I don't see why either would be detrimental, unless you only drank Pepsi max or played games and never slept.

Take care when taking advice online, there's a lot of garbage advice/warnings out there....

StevieNix · 06/05/2021 18:24

You will be absolutely fine with one can a day op, I was so sick during pregnancy that cans of Pepsi max were some of the only things I could keep down so I had a few a day.

Choosehappy · 07/05/2021 08:06

Thanks guys Daffodil

Hi, sorry to drop in on this post.
So I'm currently 6+ weeks pregnant( so private scan suggest but I don't believe this as I has a scan at 5w5d and baby had a strong heartbeat and with being said you won't see baby heartbeat) anyway, i was a coffee addict before being pregnant as I work for nhs and needed the caffeine. However I have not had one cup of coffee since being pregnant and don't crave it but I now however drink at least 3-4 cups of tea. Is this ok?

SingingWaffleDoggy · 07/05/2021 19:45

I had awful nausea and had at least one can of Pepsi max per day as it really helped. Baby is currently napping on my chest and it doesn’t seem to have done her any harm!
I’m curious about the gaming though? Not that I game, just because I’m nosey!

Bathmatt · 07/05/2021 19:49

Correct me if I’m wrong but I get the impression with gaming you are sitting down a lot? If so, just make sure you move regularly ie at least every hour but ideally get up every 20 mins even just for a short walk to the kitchen and back!

Lou98 · 07/05/2021 20:54

@jade0881 it is possible to see a heartbeat before 6 weeks, we first seen ours at 5+4 weeks then again a week later. I'm now 38 weeks in a couple of days.

A PP posted a good screenshot from the NHS website of the different caffeine levels. It's recommended not to drink more than 200mg of caffeine a day when pregnant, a cup of tea has approximately 75mg according to the NHS website so you would probably be better sticking to two if possible (150mg) rather than 4 (300mg) which is over the recommended limit. Try decaf if it's the taste of the tea that you'll miss, I never really noticed much of a difference between the two to be honest but then I'm not a massive tea drinker anyway so that could be why

jade0881 · 07/05/2021 21:46

Hi @Lou98 thanks for your input.. I'll defo try limit the amount I have to drink...
Aww congratulations hun. What u having

Lou98 · 07/05/2021 22:06

@jade0881 a wee boy! 😁 hoping he'll come any day now, definitely at that uncomfortable fed up stage 😂 congratulations on your pregnancy❤️

Melrose86 · 07/05/2021 22:18

I have been drinking Pepsi max every day too. Not something I ever had before I was pregnant. My local tesco now has caffeine free Pepsi max which I like to think they got in just for me as they were concerned how much of it I was drinking Grin

jade0881 · 07/05/2021 22:33

@Lou98 aww bless you. I can't wait myself. This is baby number 3 for me. Hoping for a boy as I have 2 daughters already but I'll be happy no matter the gender. As long as he/she is healthy xxx and thank hun.... xx

climbershell · 09/05/2021 16:10

I have 1 can of Pepsi Max a day, sometimes two. You could actually have 4 a day if not having any tea, coffee or chocolate.

I stopped drinking Pepsi Max/diet coke about 2 years ago (used to drink several 2l bottles a day), so it's strange to be drinking it frequently but it seems to help slightly with the all day nausea. I switched to decaf tea when trying to conceive but has 5/6 a day and I've had zero since 6 weeks pregnant, yuck! Gone right off it!
