Having sex post c section

Hi all, just wondering how long it took you to have sex post c section? My baby is just over 4 weeks old and we've tried having sex a few times (my sex drive has come back with a vengeance post pregnancy which I wasn't expecting) but I found it really painful so couldn't. It hurt at the perineum which I found weird seeing as she didn't come out that way, but I did have a long labour and emergency section so could it be bruised perhaps?
Any advice or past experience would be great to hear, thanks!

The advice is generally to wait 6 weeks to avoid infection in your cervix. It is still a wound remember. I’d wait a couple more weeks for penetrative sex. Are you using lube?

Meantime try having non penetrative sex?

Are you breastfeeding? With both of mine (emergency sections) it was painful until I stopped breastfeeding.

You might have sore muscles further up which are affecting it.

It could just be that you need lots of foreplay and gentle sex for a couple of weeks.

Ive had 3 very different births (1 emcs) and found sex tricky the first few times after each despite me and DH continuing our sex life while I was pregnant.

I was the same and we did try it a week after, was a wee bit sore and then I worried about it so didn't do it till a few weeks later xx

With my second one I did wait till at least 4 weeks lol x

I waited 7 weeks after my c section and about 5 months after my vaginal birth. You're brave trying so early! I'd leave it a while. You've had major abdominal surgery - you need to heal.

I’d no sex drive in pregnancy, and was back at about 4 weeks post section, but as other posters have said I wish someone had told me that breast feeding changed everything - expensive lube (Amazon) specifically for vaginal dryness was the only thing that helped, as other wise it hurt! For me it was lots of very open conversations, expensive lube, slowing it down, and being prepared to stop. It did improve over time BUT the lube was needed until post EbF (6+ months)

We waited the six weeks and the first time it really weirdly hurt. Like I felt too small or something? I had a planned section so hadn't even had emergency trauma to deal with. After a couple more gentle attempts it went back to normal.

Was only about 4 weeks after for us but I had an elective so no labour at all and all bleeding had stopped by then. Was similar time with our 2nd and 3rd but much longer with our 1st as I had vontouse so a lot more internal bruising made it uncomfortable. Had stitches with all 3 of the VB's so had to take it slow and gentle.
This one I haven't let him near me since I had some spotting after sex at 14wk, he's working away now until I'm 34/35wk (25+1wk atm).

Thanks all, really helpful to know about the breastfeeding causing it to hurt/dryness as I am exclusively breastfeeding. It weirdly doesn't hurt any other time but as soon as we try sex it feels like I'm way too small or something and then feels tender after even though we stopped after a minute or 2 of trying. I had a long labour and was pushing for 3 hours until they figured out her head was in the wrong position and in doing so caused my cervix to swell, so think that the bearing down has caused a lot of swelling or bruising internally. Maybe also might be a psychological thing with me tensing up! Think I'll give it 2 more weeks and get some lube and just take it slow like most of you have advised, doesn't help having a small but loud milk demanding cockblock though 😂 thanks everyone 😃
