Hello all, just non stop crying here. So I went for an ultra sound dating and vaginal on april 26 and shows that I am just 6w5d and dr said might be early so I went again on may 3 to get another ultra sound both vaginal and dating and I think I am probably 7w5d that time I went. The dr called me the next day saying no heartbeat and says sorry as this preg is not viable and gave me option so miscarry naturally and wait or take a medication or do d&c.so she sent me to do the blood work today and shows my hcg is 40145.am I likely have a missed miscarriage or should I get a second opinion?are all ultra sound accurate in terms of counting weeks? I have read on some forums that you won’t likely see a heartbeat til 10w. Any insight would help? This is our first child and this so difficult for me and my husband.anyone had similar situation? Thank you for finding time reading.

What gestation did they have you at based on the ultrasound? Because if it was 6+5 at your first scan and 7+5 at your second then that seems like normal growth? Why didn't the Dr discuss this with you at the scan?

If it were me I'd go back in two weeks to confirm. I've had it before where viability wasn't certain and I left it until 9 weeks and at that point it was still the size of a 6 week embryo and no heartbeat so it was pretty definitive. I'm glad I waited though. If I'd induced a miscarriage based on those super early scans I'd have always been thinking what if.

I'd say at 7+5 you should be able to see a heartbeat unless the machine being used is quite old, especially if it's a vaginal ultrasound x

If your hcg is 40,000 then a heartbeat should definitely be visible so it does sound more like a blighted ovum sorry 💐

I am not sure if you are from Canada but here we don't do the ultra sound with the doctors. I do it in a radiology place and a technician does my dating and vaginal ultrasound and they are not allowed to say anything.

My dr informed me over the phone due to covid and do not need to come in to see them unless necessary.

Anyhow when she sent me for blood work yesterday that was the time she told me that we can decide for options (medicine d&c,naturally) she said she will likely get in touch with me by end of this week. I also asked her if my hcg goes up can I still heartbeat still develop and she said no. I am really thinking to just wait but just don't want to keep my hopes up. I just wish my feelings will be gone tomorrow and don't feel anything. This is so hard. Sorry for anyone reading this and I am just very emotional.
