Mattress for Tutti Bambini Cozee

Moominmiss · 03/05/2021 21:11

So I’ve been lucky enough to be gifted a practically brand new tutti bambini cozee bedside crib from my brother whose baby never settled in it so was barely used.

Obviously they gave it to me minus the mattress as a new one should be bought.

I’m looking at buying a replacement one now and was going to just buy the one on the tutti website, but I’ve seen a fair few reviews saying the original one is really hard, too hard.

I just wondered if anyone has bought a different mattress for this crib?

If so where did you buy it from? I’ve found a few online that seem to suggest they fit, but upon reading reviews in actual fact they don’t and are too small.

Any suggestions? Otherwise I’ll just buy the original one as I’d rather have one that fits right even if it is a bit hard!

Thank you 😊

I got one from ebay, not an original but fitted perfectly. Just make sure it’s certified.
Mattresses for babies are meant to be hard, it’s what makes them safe. Soft mattresses contribute to SIDS.

I think this is the one I had

I got a cozee second hand and ended up just buying the branded mattress as couldn't find anything else the right size that I trusted in terms of safety certification etc...

I didn't want to get branded sheets as they are so pricey, had to search for ages but eventually found that Boots do some mothercare branded ones, 2 for £8 100% cotton!

Moominmiss · 03/05/2021 21:57

I’ve ended up just buying a tutti original mattress. But £25 for 2 sheets seems crazy. Will definitely keep looking around for those.

@sazzt did you find those sheets online or in store?

Thank you both x

@Moominmiss online, here's the link: www.boots.com/mothercare-jersey-fitted-bedside-crib-sheets--2-pack-10258013 there are some other colours/designs too, just search 'crib sheets'

Also if it helps...I've just ordered a waterproof mattress cover by The Little Green Sheep Store, large crib size (83x50) should fit the cozee I think. it hasn't arrived yet so not sure what it will be like but reviews are all really good and it's cheaper than the tutti branded one! x

Babies should have fairly hard mattresses. I have a Cozee which I've used with both my babies - just used the original mattress with a waterproof layer on which I don't think softened it much anyway - www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Green-Sheep-Waterproof-Protector/dp/B01CNOU0H8?ref_=ast_sto_dp&tag=mumsnetforu03-21. No issues.

JellyBellySmith · 04/05/2021 08:19

Pressed 'post' too quick!

For sheets, as previous posters have said, I tend to use stuff that is meant to fit the Next to Me (as it seems to be a more common crib). I used DK Glovesheets - www.amazon.co.uk/DK-Glovesheets-Fitted-Sheets-Organic/dp/B01BLHTPGK/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=dk+glovesheets+83+x+50&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1620112742&sr=8-9

Thanks all!

Have ordered the original tutti mattress and some of the sheets from boots! Going to look at that protector too so thank you @sazzt!

I’ve just gifted ours to my sister who is due in June. My baby didn’t settle in it so was only used a few times. Does she need to get a new mattress even though it’s as good as new? Didn’t even think about it so sorry for hi jacking your thread!

Moominmiss · 04/05/2021 13:38

I just assumed that it needed a new mattress even with light use. It’s what seems to be suggested.

My brother and his wife had thrown the old mattress prior to gifting it to me anyway, but I’d fully expected it to nit come with a mattress.

When I say their baby hadn’t used it much, it was perhaps the first 4-5 weeks, but most nights they’d ended up settling baby in their own bed. Then they switched to a regular Moses basket and baby settled better.

Did you buy the coir fibre matress at £45? I bought that one but seems a bit big x

Hi Catherine

Is the Coir Fibre Mattress too big??

Checking specifications online and the current mattress size is 805 x 510 mm
(To fit crib max size 825 x 530)

However the Coir Fibre Mattress is 830 x 520 mm

Seems too long!

How did you find it?

Catherine1986 · 17/11/2021 12:30

It was too big to fit the bed, it was all curled up on the edges and bumpy in the middle. Emailed the company several times but didn’t hear back so left a bad review on trust pilot when they asked me to leave one. With in the hour I got a call from tutti bambini apologising and gave me a full refund. I then bought a mattress from eBay for £15 and fit perfectly x

Thanks so much for letting me know! I'll avoid that one... do you have the link for the one you did buy? Thanks so much x

Hi,
I was just wondering about the mattress for this, we've also been gifted a used one by family and obviously we need a new mattress. Looking at the dimensions the coir filled one is obviously too big. They do list another one: www.tuttibambini.com/cozee-bedside-crib-mattress.html
There's literally no description on it though.
Just wondering if you can tell me about the ebay one, is it firm foam please?
Thanks!

Catherine1986 · 05/12/2021 08:01

My baby is over due so not used it yet, it comes folded so I opened it and left it to get its shape back. The mattress seems firm enough as babies shouldn’t be in soft mattresses. In Scotland we get a free baby box which comes with a mattress so the baby can sleep in the box if needed and it has a very similar feel to that so I Would say it’s good. The coir mattress actually felt really strange x

Alexandra1991 · 06/12/2021 17:44

Oh bless you, hopefully any day now then! Ok thank you, with it being my first I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the requirements, and having read on the lullaby trust the coir one doesn't really fit their criteria as they say it needs to be firm foam. Very frustrating how many things on the market are actually unsafe! X

Hi apologies to jump on this thread, I’m in the same boat and need a replacement mattress for the Cozee but at a loss as to which one to get! I’m in Ireland and the ebay option above doesn’t deliver here :( Would a Chicco mattress fit or any other brands anyone has tried

fejkalove · 20/01/2022 22:50

Apologies to also jump on here...do any standard crib sheet fit the Tutti Bambini?

Thanks,

Alexandra1991 · 21/01/2022 15:41

I got the Mothercare ones from boots mentioned in this thread! They're quite well-priced and seem to be quite good quality (I haven't used them a lot yet!)

Did anyone try this mattress? www.tuttibambini.com/cozee-bedside-crib-mattress.html

Yes I did, firstly it took 3 months to come and tbh it's not great. I did use it for a while but my little girl was very sicky and the mattress ended up getting mouldy. Obviously thats not really the fault of the mattress, except the fact the cover isnt waterproof. I ordered the ebay one linked in this thread because I couldn't risk a new one taking 3 months to turn up, and it's so much better (feels firmer, the cover is actually waterproof).

I used these for mine, I can’t see an equivalent on the website now but these were the right size, having a google it looks like Dunelm etc do similar 😊

Sorry to reactivate this but in desperate need of advice. I bought the little green sheep mattress to fit a gifted cozee cot but it seems
to be too short?! Am I just being anxious or should I actually be worried?
