Hi, did this test this morning, clearly need to do another as its gone a bit wrong but would you say positive? It's a super drug one.

Do another test, sweet

Thanks for replying! Yes, will do as soon as I can get one.

It looks like the test line has pulled from the control line, I'd have said that's a positive x

ArtfulScreamer · 02/05/2021 12:47

It looks positive to me but I'd be the same as you and want to do another to be sure

TheDamnFoolThatShotHim · 02/05/2021 12:51

That looks like it could be what is sometimes referred to as a 'dye stealer' - a positive that is strong enough to take some of the dye is from the control line.

Id do another test to confirm but it certainly looks like a positive result.

How would you feel about that?

BertieBotts · 02/05/2021 12:53

No you've all got it the wrong way around, the control line is the stronger one.

It is a positive test though. I would guess just some impurity in the absorbant strip. No harm in doing another to confirm.

Well I did another one (same brand) and came out negative, not even a whisper of a line! I was surprised as I think false positives are rare. I was a bit shocked by the first result as I'd thought I was nearing the menopause, but in the 3 hours before I took the follow up test, I'd convinced myself a baby might be quite nice (have 2 dcs, 10 and 7). I'll test again if I don't get my period within another week or so.

Also, the first result came up immediately, even before the control line, so I'm thinking dodgy test. I'm glad it was me that got it and not someone who had been desperately waiting for a positive!

That sounds confusing. Buy a FRER or a CB digital test to retest with first morning wee.

vacuumnomore · 02/05/2021 19:22

Yes good idea

I do need to make sure as will be booking in for the vaccine next week.

A quick mumsnet search has revealed superdrug tests to be notorious for false positives!
