I am now 20 weeks with my first baby and despite hoping for a lovely trouble free pregnancy, it has been full of health problems. First, I am diabetic so that has produced a whole new set of problems for me to deal with. Then I had morning sickness permanently for over 10 weeks, then high blood pressure, migraines and backache.

Went to the docs this morning about my backache as I haven't slept for 3 nights now with it and he tells me I have a kidney infection!!! I can't believe it.

I hope labour and delivery are a breeze after this pregnancy!

aw daisynova! poor you

had posted a message to you in 'grumpiness'thread (in the middle of my latest rant) to see you you're doing...

I have had lots of kidney infections (before pregnancy) and the one good thing is that as the dr has caught it, antibiotics should sort you out quite quickly.

Also if you have been feeling generally rubbish, run down and weepy you may find a lot of this is due to the kidney inf, they really knock you for 6 so you may be feeling a bit happier and shinier soon.

hugs n stuff xx

Hi both!sorry to hear you're not too well daisynova, reading this has made me think,I'm 23 weeks now and i've had backache for a couple of weeks, but have also been getting dizzy spells(where i'm standing still but the room feels like its moving). what kind of pain is it? sorry to sound dull but i've never had a kidney infection!

daisynova · 19/11/2007 17:05

Sara - I was dizzy with the kidnet infection and passed out on a plane last week - very embarrassing! The pain sometimes in sharp but it tends to be a constant ache in my back like I have a pulled muscle. Go to the docs and a simple urine test should help - I actually thought I had pulled a muscle so was a bit shocked at the infection.

Chunky - didn't think the infection could make me feel so rubbish. I have been in agony so I am snookered if labour is worse than this How are you anyway?

am moaning about achy ribs and heartburn now on a nearby thread!!!!

god am such a moany cow. house still not sorted, have now had phone/tv/internet (aaaagh) cut off at the flat cos we thought we would have moved by now but the new place is still a buliding site... and I could go on but I won't as I am boring myself

sure I will look back on all this and laugh

have a scan on wed to see if my low placenta has decided to move, will be nice to see the baby, hopefully we'll get good news there too, think they often do move by 34 weeks. always manage to get wound up with scans, worry there'll be something wrong with my wee boy (who I am convinced is a giant as he has taken over the space that used to belong to various essential internal organs...)

CP - go ahead and whinge honey. That is all I do recently and I am sick of the sound of my own voice - or my own retching!!!

I hope your placenta has moved - my cousin had a c-section last week as her placenta was covering her cervix and she had an 8lb 8oz little girl.

I'm starving now though at dinner time I couldn't eat my meal - sod's law. This baby is determined to make me eat at the most inappropriate times. Must take after his/her father!
