Lump under armpit

I'm 20 weeks and realised earlier that I have a fairly large lump under my armpit. This actually happened in pregnancy with DC1, same shape, same feel and in the same place as well. Was referred for a checkup at the time due to family history of breast cancer. They found that it was normal breast tissue, and due to pregnancy.

I'm just really unsure whether to get it checked out again? I've been shielding as much as possible with Covid and I know getting it investigated will involve 2 appointments at a minimum, incl. one in hospital and it makes me nervous. Or perhaps the GP will be annoyed that I'm wasting as it's clearly the same as last time?

Argh I don't know, what should I do?

Get it checked. Regardless of being the same as last time, and giving a history of breast cancer.
A lump should never be ignored!

Have you had a Covid vaccine recently? A few people are experiencing this as a side effect.

Best to get it checked - I’m sure your GP would rather it was checked out and harmless, rather than have you worrying at home.

Mrsdarwin · 01/05/2021 20:06

I would get it checked to be on the safe side regardless

Livvymax · 01/05/2021 20:17

Get it checked if only to prevent any anxiety
GP will 10,000% not be annoyed with you

Thank you very much all, you are right. If someone else wrote this I would be telling them the same. I guess I'll just have to get over my worry of being a nuisance and my anxiety of Covid! @thebakeoffwasntasgoodthisyear, no Covid vaccine yet, that's interesting though!

Hi op
I had something similar to that myself when I got it checked it was just my milk duc that had some blocked milk. After some warm water and a massage it went.

Santastealer · 01/05/2021 21:37

I had exactly the same. I had it rechecked in my second pregnancy even though I knew what it would be. You can’t be too careful.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 01/05/2021 21:39

I had the same after have third. It was an abscess and I needed antibiotics, so I would go if I was you.

Ifiknew · 01/05/2021 22:12

Wow so interesting that people had the same. @jade0881, how far along were you when you had yours?
@santastealer good to know you got it checked again the second time. I'll do that!

@Ifiknew
I was 22weeks Hun

PhannyPharts · 01/05/2021 22:40

Please please get it checked out. I am currently undergoing treatment for stage three breast cancer and I put off going when something first felt wrong for five months. In those months it got into my lymph nodes so my treatment is far more complex than if I'd just gone.

There is only something to gain by doing it. Reassurance it's all ok or catching it early. Chances are you're fine but please don't risk it.

Livvymax · 01/05/2021 23:38

@PhannyPharts thank you for sharing your story, I hope you’re doing ok Flowers

PhannyPharts · 02/05/2021 08:15

@Livvymax just finished my second round of chemotherapy. Whilst it's not nice I'm managing well on the whole but I just want people to get seen as soon as possible. If it's enough to make you make you take notice and ask, it's enough to go to your GP for a check up. Thank you for your thoughts.

PhannyPharts · 02/05/2021 08:17

*kind thoughts. The first version sounded a bit abrupt Thanks
