I was wondering I’ve just made myself a smoothie and the orange juice I buy says to consume within 2 days and it’s been about 4 now?
I’ve tried looking everywhere on the internet and it doesn’t say much? But why does it say consume within 2 days but have a use by date on it too? So confused, just thinking now well if it’s been 4 days instead of the 2 will that do any harm? Please no judging as I’m not well versed on this stuff and it’s just confusing to me and if I shouldn’t do it again and it’s okay this one off?....

Because the use by date is the day it "goes off" and the date you need to use it by overall but you are also supposed to use it within 2 days of opening. I'm sure it's fine. I'm sure our orange juice is open for more days than that before we finish it.

So many products say that. I never pay attention to it, it’s more a freshness thing and a way to get you to chuck out perfectly good food and buy more.
Worst case scenario is you get a bit of a dodgy stomach but our orange juice is out way way way longer than 4 days

We've never used fresh orange juice within 2 days of opening.

I don’t usually pay attention to the consume within information but now I’m pregnant I do as I don’t want to risk food poisoning. I’m sure most people would just go by the use by date though! There’s a use by date because that’s the maximum amount of time before it goes off within the packaging, however once you open it it lets oxygen in which stimulates bacterial growth so once you’ve opened it it goes off quicker than when it’s sealed.

Try a bit. If it tastes fine, its fine. Things like orange juice won't become toxic they just won't taste as good.
