I’ve been suffering from terrible ms. I’ve had days of not being able to get out of bed or keep down any food or water. I’m a single mum with a 22 month old toddler. I got desperate so begged the doctot for some medication. She was reluctant to prescribe as she said it could harm the fetus but eventually agreed. She prescribed me promethazine 10mg and told me to take the lowest dose. I took one pill this morning and it’s completely knocked me out. I’ve basically slept all day and feel so exhausted- it’s like a sedative or something. It does seem to have taken the edge off the nausea, but now I’m panicking that it could have hurt the foetus- especially since it appears to have had such an extreme effect on me. So scared of another MMC. Anyone have any experience to share or advice about whether this drug is safe? The stuff you read online is not very reassuring.

I've not taken it for morning sickness, but I've taken it for travel sickness.
Yes it absolutely knocks you out. If you carry on taking them then take them at bedtime. They're normally active for 24 hours after taking them.

I take the same dose at night to help me sleep. I told the midwife at my booking appointment & she didn't say it was unsafe

This is the website my psychiatrist has referred me to for information (after she has herself advised me). Looks OK to use OP 😊

Thanks so much for your input ladies. Really appreciated. Also good to know I’m not the only one knocked out by these drugs 😅.

@JackJack84 how far along are you?

I'm 11 weeks

SenoraSurf · 01/05/2021 18:54

I'm 19 weeks and took 25mg for my first and second pregnancy every night before bed.

Works wonders for me so I tolerate the tiredness but think my body is used to it now as doesn't effect me like it did at the start.

Take the tablet before bed with some water, I feel tired if I take it in the morning but am fine if I have it at night

@SenoraSurf thanks so much for sharing your experience, that makes me feel much better. ❤️

@JackJack84 I’m about a week behind you then ☺️
