5 weeks & bleeding

I was 5.4 weeks pregnant yesterday and had some blood on my underwear. When I wiped there was quite a lot of fresh red blood, I was so frazzled I didn’t look at it properly so I don’t know what it was like. I had a little spotting for an hour or 2 afterwards and nothing since.

Gut feeling is I’m miscarrying. Only thing making me unsure is the fact that I didn’t bleed long at all. Did anyone experience this in a miscarriage?

EPU have basically said wait it out and take another test in a week

I had a similar experience - I had quite a lot of pain when the bleeding started and was seen by an out of hours dr, who said I was too early to be seen by EPU. He thought it was a kidney infection - and I may be miscarrying as well.
I rang my GP when I was still bleeding a week on. She said I was likely miscarrying snd it would get worse before it got better. And if in 10 days, I still had issues, call back and they would refer me urgently.
I did as I was told and had another 10 days of pain and bleeding. I ended up in EPU with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, internal bleeding and being rushed to theatre.
I’m really sure that your experience won’t be as dramatic as mine... but please, please learn from me... if you’re at all worried, keep asking to be seen. Don’t just assume they know best and wait it out. I wish I’d shouted louder and begged to be seen as it might have saved my Fallopian tube!

I bled at 5 weeks quite alot. My dd is 7 now, no other issues. But I remember being told to wait it out- horrible. Sending good wishes xx

5 weeks & bleeding - in midwifery terms you are having your period

@Mupp64 the bleeding literally lasted 1/2 hours...and it was mainly spotting apart from 1 spell of fresh red blood.

Had the bleeding continued I would have assumed the same but I’m utterly confused by the length of the bleed.

@SillyBry I’m sorry you went through so much trauma. Thank you for sharing your story with me. If the bleeding starts again or I have any pains etc I’ll definitely push them.

Still no more bleeding since Thursday. Tested today and still a strong positive but I feel like it’s over.

I hope everything is ok. This happened to me at 5+5, I had previously had 2 very strong positives. I had heavy bleeding for 4 days with cramps though, it didn't stop like yours so I hope you are not going through the same thing. I knew that it was too early to go to the GP/EPU so I just rode it out. I had a negative test 2 1/2 weeks later. I assume it was a very early loss. I felt ok at the time because it was our first cycle. However, now we are 8 months down the line with no more positive tests, if it happened again I would feel devastated. I put up a similar post at the time and some people miscarried but some went on with no issues. It's just a waiting game :(

Wednesday morning I took 3 pregnancy tests all positive (two clearblue normal and one digital test) however after 4pm I started bleeding not sure if it was spotting or a implantation bleed I called the doctor the next morning and she said sounds like spotting to keep an eye on it and take another test in a few days, well bleeding finished yesterday so took a test this morning (clearblue digital) it said not pregnant so now I'm unsure if I was spotting or implantation bleed or if I was miscarriaging (I had no cramping) not sure what to do?? I was about 5 weeks (from first day of last period)

I started spotting at 9 weeks, wasnt to concerned as it was brown and not much also no pain, had small amount of brown spotting for two days,however next evening it turned to heavy clots, and the evening after still clots but no pain, made appointment for early scan, night before scan more clots and started to get period like pain during the night, the morning before the scan when I stood up out of bed so much clots came out, went for scan and nothing appeared on screen, they told me it had probably already passed out of me, had to get blood tests over two days to make sure not etopic pregnancy, they rand me after 2and blood test to say it was a miscarriage

Meant to update before but forgot all about it.

After still having positive tests a week after the bleeding I booked a private scan for 7&2 where a heartbeat was visible.

Currently 10 weeks and no more bleeding so far!
