At what point does pregnancy get hard?

I’m 25 weeks and I have been sooo lucky up til now and have had such an easy time of it, literally to the point I wouldn’t know I was pregnant 99% of the time. My bump doesn’t feel big, I’m not waddling about fed up (like I expected every pregnant person does the whole way through 😂), I really have no bad side effects from it at all! The worst thing that’s happened so far is a few weeks of feeling a bit sick at the start and I now have heartbeat on the odd days. At what point when you were pregnant did it get bad? Or did it not get bad at all? 😊 I’m imagining the combination of being heavily pregnant and having hot weather in June/July will be a bit more difficult but will it be THAT bad?

@danadas so strange how each pregnancy one person has can be so different 🤷🏼‍♀️

@YukoandHiro oh no, I couldn’t cope with that 🤦🏼‍♀️ Would make it drag in!

My pregnancy was great up until 42 weeks (ds didn’t want to come out Grin)

Labour was long and tough but ok

The first 6 months was hell on earth. He didn’t sleep more than 40 mins at a time. 7 years later he doesn’t really sleep through and is in my bed. Good luck 🤣

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 20:54

@LittleLionMan23 I did expect that! Luckily I’m working from home 28-33 weeks then off before mat leave starts, it would be a different story if I was there. I’m an infant teacher so it’s hard going all day but I’m getting through it just now knowing I only have a couple of weeks left 😂 thanks, last week I did start to think the heartburn was constant and I was going to have to get something for it but it’s gone away again this week. Might end up needing something nearer the end though

@Hottesttrikeintown haha oh good 😂 I’ve got that to look forward to! I think it’s likely to be a section due to a low lying placenta but I’m not looking forward to the recovery from that or the lack of sleep 🙈

I got stretch marks, severe heart burn and generally breathless/uncomfortable from about 7 months but even then, I didn't think it was bad.

Second time round it's going great, heart burn is a mild annoyance that I suspect will get worse.

I do have a bad back this time that actually effects me

Though it could be worse

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 20:57

@Flappityflippers1 haha oh dear 😂 I will probably have one that’s a nightmare to make up for this lovely time I’m having then 🙈

38 weeks here.

I do not enjoy this process at all. It hurts. It has been shit for several weeks now. Nosebleeds, headaches, pain in back and legs, difficulty breathing, i'm just sick of it.

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 21:00

@AhaShakeHeartbreak12 I expected my back to hurt and I had a weird thing with the bottom of my spine for a few weeks where it felt like I needed to crack it and couldn’t but this week I’m literally like am I even pregnant? 😂 luckily escaped the stretch marks so far and I do seem to get them as I’ve had them on my legs before being pregnant but waiting to see if any appear on my belly 🙈

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 21:00

@ScaredOfDinosaurs 😞 oh no, you haven’t got long to go. Hope it’s over soon for you. Just think of the lovely baby you’ll have soon

@Megan2018 I have a horse! 😂 maybe that helps? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I avoid doing any heavy lifting of hay nets etc but do still muck out

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 21:05

@Coachee oh no 😂 that will be me if I have another one. I have always been into running and ran a marathon not long before getting pregnant so I think being that fit helped when I just did nothing the first few months. I’ve got back into doing some pregnancy workouts now and as I do them I think I used to always think why would pregnant people exercise? 🙈 you’re never going to look good! But now I actually am a pregnant person I feel way better if I do it and I’m hoping if I can at least avoid getting fat arms by the end il be pleased 😂

Hey OP I'm 29 weeks FTM to be so just a few weeks further along. I'm also quite lucky to have had a fairly straightforward pregnancy other than some nausea and migraines. Now I'm getting bigger I'm more tired and getting quite achey but it's still manageable, and I still sleep well at night. The aches are like what you get after a big workout but just in weirder areas. Mind you part of the reason for a somewhat easy time might be because I've worked from home 90% of the time. It might have been a different story otherwise.

But yeah like you I'm wondering when it gets THAT bad. I'm quite anxious generally and almost feel bad having kind of sailed through so far, so I'm almost expecting something to go wrong but praying it doesn't! Currently my most ungainly moments are turning over in bed, and it's becoming more awkward to put my shoes on but there's definitely no waddling yet!

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 21:08

@LouNatics thank you. That sounds awful, so sorry you’ve been through all of that 😞 my friend has suffered two losses while I’ve been pregnant, both times we were getting all excited about mat leave together and how our babies would be friends. So I do just feel so so lucky every day that my baby is okay and he’s still with me. It’s just the worst 😞

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 21:13

@Luckyelephant1 haha glad you’re not at that stage yet 😂 I think when it hits 30 weeks I will feel like I’m on the home straight. I’m a generally anxious person too and I’ve always worried about being pregnant, I just think the worst in every situation. It looks like il be getting a section because of my placenta so that is making me think at least I know I won’t go to 42 weeks in the heat of the summer! I’ve been at work, luckily worked from home at the point I was being sick or that would of been a different story! But I’m going back to working from home at 28 weeks so I will be putting my feet up after that and making the most of it 😂 I think I just always had this idea in my head that it would be so so bad from the word go and it’s been the complete opposite!

I found pregnancy ok. I was definitely ready to not be working at 36 weeks though. Heavy, tired, and a spot of heartburn was all I had. Was really looking forward to having a nice rest in the sun before having a baby. The symptomless (other than BP and protein) pre-eclampsia came as a bit of a shock.

Chelyanne · 30/04/2021 21:21

Pregnancy has some tough elements to it but I see it as well worth it if I get to bring a baby home so just power through.

I've endured 4 term pregnancies (3 with spd/pgp), my last was twins and I have had some very big babies. Here I am 24+3wk again with spd/pgp worsening as I get bigger but I love it. Hubby works away too so I'm uses to doing it alone most of the time. Having endured my fair share of losses I'm just quite grateful to grow a healthy baby no matter how hard it is on my body.

Jazzy1814 · 30/04/2021 21:37

Pregnancy being hard depends on the circumstances my first was awful, with my first I bled from 7 weeks until the the end sometimes heavily and had to be admitted multiple times, I had severe morning sickness, high bp and Bell’s palsy and eventually placental abruption and emergency csection then a 2 day labour followed by suspected Down syndrome and genetic testing safe to say it was hard but my second was an absolute breeze I loved every single minute !!

Jazzy1814 · 30/04/2021 21:46

Sorry meant to say 2 day labour followed by emergency section

shivawn · 30/04/2021 22:45

I'm just 18 weeks but like you I don't feel pregnant at all, had a rough couple weeks around 6-8weeks but its been smooth sailing since then.

I dont have any signs of a bump yet but I imagine it'll get hard when I'm lugging a bunch of extra baggage around!

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 22:58

@Dyra oh no, when did you find out you had it? I’m working from home in a few weeks then off from 33 weeks so I’ve timed it really well I think 🙈

OP posts:
sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 23:02

@Chelyanne oh wow! Sorry you’ve been through that, one of my best friends has had two losses since I’ve been pregnant and I just feel constantly grateful to have a healthy baby. I’ve felt so lucky up til now I won’t even moan if it’s bad near the end 🙈

OP posts:
sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 23:03

@Jazzy1814 oh jeez, that’s a lot! Glad your second one was much better. I might be getting my easy one out the road first 😂

sarah13xx · 30/04/2021 23:06

@shivawn so weird isn’t it 😂 I really thought it would be terrible but it’s not at all! I told everyone after 16 weeks but before my 20 week scan I was saying I really could have just kept this a secret til after. I’m a teacher and even now my class say ‘how can you be pregnant when you don’t have that bump in your stomach?’ 😂 eh I do, it’s just well hidden! I like being able to feel him moving too and I didn’t expect I’d like that at all. He first kicked hard enough to feel on the outside at 19 weeks and that was the first time I was certain it was definitely him and not just me imagining it 🙈 hopefully it’s plain sailing the whole way!

@sarah13xx I was wondering this too. I'm 20 weeks and although had nausea and exhaustion bad in first tri it was gone by 11 weeks and that's it! Odd achey hip at night but I don't even feel pregnant apart from a small bump and the wee twinges/kicks now which are getting stronger. Preparing myself though for the third tri and summer like you say but fingers crossed for both of us.
