I am 37 weeks tomorrow, I had a growth scan today and they estimated baby to be 7lb exactly. Is that normal for 37 weeks? How much bigger will baby get im scared shes going to be 9lb odd by 40 weeks!.. this is my 4th baby .
DC1 40+6 7lb5oz
DC2 40+6 8lb5oz
DC3 40+3 7lb8oz

It’s certainly not abnormal. 37 weeks is considered term. I had a growth scan last week at 36+1 which estimated baby at 7lb3 and she was 89th centile so 7lbs at 37 weeks is on the bigger side but certainly not ridiculously huge.

Also don’t forget that it’s not an exact science, with my first DD I had a growth scan 2 days before she unexpectedly arrived and she was 5lb lighter than they’d estimated. Can also go the other way and they might be bigger, it’s just an estimate.

Also with your 4th you’re probably less likely to go all the way to 40 weeks, baby could come anytime from now on!

My second was estimated 7lb 11 at 36 weeks and 9lb 6 when she was born (40w exactly)

@Bobbots 5lb lighter!? That's a big difference!! And I just feel like because I was a couple days over with all the others I will be this time 😔..

@Mingasauros how was the Labour and birth with a 9lb baby?

Echoing others who have said it's not an exact science, my DS was estimated to be 7 lbs 10 and was born at 6 lbs 15...

Mingasauros · 30/04/2021 18:46

@LayingLow I've had 2 9lbers. The first was an easy labour but forceps delivery as she turned the wrong way (9lb 2), but the second was the easiest labour/delivery I've had. 50 minutes start to finish. My third was only 7lb 2 though 😂

Mine have been.
Dc1 42wks 8lb11
Dc2 40+10 8lb15
Dc3 42wks 9lb 10.
DC4 40wks 9lb5.

DC4 was the only one i had a routine growth scan for. At 37wks they estimated he weighed 8lb15 already. So based on my overdueness in all pregnancies he was likely to be over 11lb/5KG at 42wks. So he was induced, because there are risks going over 5KG. He was nowhere near as big.

I'm 34wks with DC5, routine growth scan in 2wks. I expect they will say she's large too.

My 9lb10 birth was the easiest and quickest of them all. Waters broken and a 2hr labour.

Haha sorry I mean 5oz not 5lb! 😂

I had to have a scan at 38weeks with my third (suspected breech) he was not breech, just long, with his butt under my ribs and head as engaged as possible. If I recall right they said he'd be between 8 and 9 lbs by 40 weeks. He emerged at 40+3 weighing 9lb12 and was indeed a long baby! Born at home with the assistance of gravity, the midwives were surprised by his weight but I wasn't.

They say bigger babies can be easier to deliver- I can see that being true, that being said though.....my 2nd was 7lb on the dot and quite literally shot out LOL he was 2 weeks early and clearly in quite a hurry.

As this is your 4th, and your previous babies were a good size, I reckon you'll be fine if this one is a lil bigger Smile

I had growth scans that estimated my DS would be over 9lb. He was 7lb1 at 2 weeks overdue...

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 30/04/2021 21:18

My DS was 8lb at 37 weeks, he was born at 39+4 via csection at 10lb 1oz
