The long wait for labour

Does anyone want to join me in the longgg wait for labour? I’m 38 weeks but have been having braxton hicks for WEEKS which aren’t doing anything to my cervix. I’m exhausted and just want my waters to burst so I can get it over with and meet baby! Anyone else?

No developments here 🙄🤰 the hospital rang me to say they had tested my urine sample and believe I have ecoli and to ring my gp tomorrow

Teakind · 09/05/2021 19:56

I’m 38+5 today and feeling increasingly impatient! I’ve had really strong braxton hicks for weeks but no signs of actual labour yet. I’m high risk so have an induction booked in 12 days if nothing starts (which I’m desperate to avoid!)

@StrawberriCream sorry to hear that! What made them test for ecoli?

StrawberriCream · 09/05/2021 20:03

@Teakind I have no idea, they just took my urine sample as usual when I went for midwife appt, I've had uti's pretty constantly since 28 weeks. Was surprised to have a phonecall from the hospital telling me to call my gp

Teakind · 09/05/2021 20:18

@StrawberriCream hopefully it will be a case of just requiring a specific antibiotic. Seems like the hospital could have sorted a prescription though!

Sparksflyxo · 09/05/2021 20:23

I’m 38+4 and getting inpatient waiting for little man to arrive as I seem to always have the pressure on my pelvis making me want to pee and heartburn. Regret having a curry last night didn’t sleep at all last night due to bad heartburn. Tried gaviscon but no joy and I think I’ve irritated by chest as spit up some bloody phlegm before so will give the GP a call tomorrow for advice.

Oh no! I had some dodgy results from my last sample and it turned out to be OK when they sent it further, they said the threshold for giving antibiotics is really low so it's possible you just have the tiniest bit of infection

Ouch sounds like you are really suffering. Not long now. The heartburn was horrific with my last pregnancy but the bump is much lower this time so although I've had it it's not been as bad. I can get by on a big bottle of gaviscon a week.

I'm getting induced on my due date, I really hope I don't go that far as want to avoid it if at all possible

Do they test for UTIs as standard? I've never had one and trying to figure out if the pains I'm having now are normal pregnancy things or anything more Envy

Yes they do when you bring in your wee sample at appointments. How do you feel?
lucymagoo · 10/05/2021 10:06

@namechangefornaming1 okay that's reassuring Grin I think it's just the baby's head on my bladder/nerve then. It almost feels like he's resting on my actual urethra at times, when I need a wee and stand up to go I struggle to stand upright without it hurting!

AyyX · 10/05/2021 10:13

@Catlover8926 wonder if you’ve given birth yet? Any news?

Hope everyone is doing well Smile
I recognise some people here from the May babies thread but I’ll update on here anyway. I gave birth on 7th May at 11:30pm, baby boy weighing 3.61kg 😊

Does it stop when you move round at all? I get something like that but when I change position it goes away. Might be worth giving the midwife a call to put your mind at rest.

lucymagoo · 10/05/2021 10:57

@namechangefornaming1 yes it's pretty much only when I have a full bladder or have been sat down for too long and stand up. Sounds all normal but will raise at my next appointment

Congrats @AyyX! GrinBear hope you and little one are doing well

I had my baby yesterday, at 10.47am. A little boy, 7lb 11oz. Happy wee man 😘 so far, no name because we hadn't even started discussing it.

Thought I had Braxton Hicks about 1am, spent about 3 hours trying to clear them before I realised it might be labour! Managed to wait until 7.30am before waking do and baby born 3 hours later at home. Xxxxx

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join you? I’m having a lot of pain/discomfort this evening. It’s braxton hicks I think with some sharp kicks thrown in for good measure. Lots of pressure down below. I’m 38 +4 wks.
Huge congratulations @fattymumbum! Do you mind if I update that info in the May babies thread?

My baby girl arrived on Sunday morning (40+3) after a relatively short and straightforward labour. She’s 7lb 13oz and we’re all doing fine.
Hope those of you still waiting aren’t waiting for too long x

AyyX · 11/05/2021 08:56

Thanks ladies and congrats @fattymumbum and @BeeMakesTea Flowers

@LittleTiger007 you’re getting there! Hopefully you’ll see your little one soon x

LittleTiger007 · 11/05/2021 09:01

Congratulations @BeeMakesTea!

Had a bad morning, they've given me antibiotics that make me sick 😬 I'm tired and emotional 🙈 I cried because I'm worried the baby will be so late and then they will induce me and then that won't work and I will end up with a C-section 😬🙈🙁basically just working myself up a bit now
