The long wait for labour

Does anyone want to join me in the longgg wait for labour? I’m 38 weeks but have been having braxton hicks for WEEKS which aren’t doing anything to my cervix. I’m exhausted and just want my waters to burst so I can get it over with and meet baby! Anyone else?

@StrawberriCream happy due date- it’s my due date today too 🎉 Your littlest sounds so sweet! Fingers crossed it works for you.

I couldn't imagine anything worse than a wax at the moment. Everything feels so sensitive, using toilet paper really hurts even though I'm dabbing it!
Finally dp said he would trim it because I can't see it, haha!!

Twobecomingthreeplusthedog · 06/05/2021 15:39

Well I had period pain last night and got all excited that it might be labour. Turned out I just needed a massive fart. Biggest anti climax.

On the raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on the ball and order a spicy curry this weekend Hmm

Spamming this thread too! I'm 39+1, had my first sweep as I've refused early induction. Cervix soft and favourable apparently but still closed internally. So she couldn't do it properly. I'm going to be waiting a long time I think!

fattymumbum · 06/05/2021 16:29

Some choice compliments from my not yet 2 year old toddler to cheer everyone up!!!!
"Mummy has a big tummy", "Mummy has a fat bum" and "mummy has saggy boobs". All said in the space of 5mins!!!!

@Moorelewis how did you get a sweep at 39+1? I asked my midwife for one before 40 weeks and she said she couldn’t do one and the earliest I could have one was 40+4. She only works Tuesday and Fridays and my due date is a Saturday so I asked her for one at 39+6 and she’s said no.
Moorelewis · 06/05/2021 16:49

@Twobecomingthreeplusthedog they won't give them under 40 weeks unless there is a medical need for baby to be born earlier. I refused to be induced at 39 weeks so they're keen to get things moving! I hope things happen quickly for you.

StrawberriCream · 06/05/2021 16:52

I had my sweep today at 40 weeks exactly she gave my cervix a 'good tug' and apparently put the tip of her finger in. Not overly hopeful it will do anything but only time will tell I guess

Moorelewis · 06/05/2021 16:53

@StrawberriCream that sounds promising! Fingers crossed for you.

@Moorelewis completely understand. Really hope it works for you and baby makes an appearance Flowers

Yes i wont be joining the waxing crew! Can't think of anything worse at the moment. Managed to make a stab at shaving my legs yesterday and will ask DH to have a bit of a trim of the other Grin
namechangefornaming1 · 06/05/2021 19:14

I had the midwife yesterday and she told me to start nipple stimulation, 15 minutes 4 times a day. DH thinks Christmas has come early Grin

namechangefornaming1 · 06/05/2021 20:35

Haha not sure what happened with my emojis they were all supposed to be a grin

@namechangefornaming1 I have to polite inform DH that perineal massage is not an invitation to sex, EVERY night. Nor is it pleasant!
namechangefornaming1 · 07/05/2021 08:52

I tried that with my last pregnancy. Did it about 3 times and that was 3 times too many 😂. Found it totally creepy.

fattymumbum · 07/05/2021 09:11

Never managed to get round to perineal massage surprisingly!!!

namechangefornaming1 · 07/05/2021 12:05

You didn't miss much 😂

fattymumbum · 07/05/2021 14:05

Thanks!!! I'll tick it off my to do list!!!! haha

namechangefornaming1 · 08/05/2021 08:29

How is everyone today? Had a really bad night, restless and toilet for a wee what seemed like every 30 minutes. Might go back to bed for a bit. Got some horrendous rib pain on one side ( not new, had it for weeks, think it's where the baby's bum is) that meant I couldn't easily get out of bed so had to get DH to roll me out a couple of times. Fed up now.

Twobecomingthreeplusthedog · 08/05/2021 23:01

@namechangefornaming1 how long do you have left? I’m also so fed up. I was really wanting to be enjoying some outdoor eating this week before baby arrives but the weather is so crap i haven’t bothered. My due date is 2 weeks today.

I can’t keep still and end up doing so many jobs that then I ache all over. Realised this evening I haven’t felt baby move much either since this morning Confused

I have 12 days left. The weather has been atrocious here today, most outdoor eating places have shut for the day I think. Can't sleep, been awake a couple of hours now, ache and restless.
Please go get checked out if you've not felt the baby move much, they attach you to a monitor for an hour, they really don't mind you phoning up and it's really important to get checked out. I've been in twice already this pregnancy xx

Twobecomingthreeplusthedog · 09/05/2021 13:45

@namechangefornaming1 I have 13 days left so we’re super close!

I laid on my left side and had a huge drink of water and he happily woke up and he’s been as normal today. Think yesterday I overdid it and didn’t stop moving so hadn’t noticed him move much either. I’ve got so used to feeling him that it feels weird that will all soon stop!

I’ve also been in twice, both times staff have been super lovely and reassuring.

I’m enjoying the weather today before another week of rain Hmm

Ah that's good everything seems OK today. It's easy to miss movements when you're busy all day, I found that when I was working. I've felt pretty good today. It's been a bit blustery here, but much better than yesterday. Everyone else has gone very quiet... Wonder if there have been any developments!
