Internal Exam

I was told my midwife to contact the hospital due to abdominal pain, they want to me to come in and check baby over and make sure she’s okay but also want to do an internal exam also go check my cervix, so I’m on my way there now and I’m so so nervous about an internal exam, I’ve had a swab done at 11 weeks to test for thrush but that’s all.
Is 22 weeks too early for an internal exam? I’m really nervous, has anyone had an internal exam early on in their pregnancy? How was it?

You'll be fine. They are the professionals!!!

I had one at 6 weeks last Friday. It was fine. Bit awkward, but essentially like a smear... it didn't hurt, and it was quite fast.

They checked that my cervix looked healthy and was still closed, and that I wasn't passing any tissue.

Good luck, but don't worry about the internal. It'll be fine, honestly x

I had an internal scan recently at 18 weeks to check cervix and all was fine. I found it more comfortable then the internal scan I had earlier on in the pregnancy. Goodluck x

I had one at 26 weeks and it was absolutely fine. Maybe a little bit more uncomfortable than a smear, but all good!
