So I am 6 weeks pregnant and I’m now proper stressed out, I had one first response left so took it this morning and it’s way lighter than the one I took 2 days ago, can anyone offer any insight? Even if it’s the harsh truth, tried for this baby for a year and a half and this seems like a cruel twist of fate. Top one was FMU 2 days ago and the bottom one was this mornings, haven’t drunk ridiculous amounts of water or anything like that.

Have you read about the hook effect? Sometimes HCG is too high for the test to process. Stop testing, you are pregnant 💕

MamaMoonbeam · 30/04/2021 10:28

I wouldn't rely on hpt to confirm how your pregnancy is but there's quite a difference. Have you had any bleeding or cramping? Can you call your local epau? Xx

Peacefulspirit · 30/04/2021 10:32

The bottom one looks darker to me!

No bleeding, I’ve had cramping but I've been having that since 10dpo so nothing ‘abnormal’ as it were, it’s the difference that worries me and they are from the same pack

Would the local epau do anything? X

I also think the bottom one is darker.

The line on the right is the control line and that’s fainter, but the actual test line on the left is darker unless I’m mistaken!

Top one is the one I took 2 days ago, the test line is wayyy darker than the control line, on the bottom test which is the one I took this morning the test line is really light compared to control line

The top one is darker.
I can't help as I used two different brands as thought my first test must be wrong 😂.
I understand why your worried do you have any more tests? Maybe tomorrow morning?

Emmab321 · 30/04/2021 12:31

Hi:)
This is just what I have read and I don’t know if helpful ....but Apparently there is a point where the concentration gets so High that the test doesn’t process it properly . The hook effect as pp has mentioned :) The same happened to me and I was panicking . I read on this forum that someone did an experiment where they diluted the same urine sample that had given a weak line with a bit of water and did another test it was twice as dark . I gave it a go and the tests were much darker when Diluted a bit.

Might be worth a go just for some peace of mind ?

Chelyanne · 30/04/2021 12:35

They're both positive. No need to be worried really.

Santatizer · 30/04/2021 12:55

I can understand why you are worried. It's really hard but all you can do really is sit it out and see what happens over the next few days. You could try calling the EPAU and see if they will see you but at 6 weeks, a scan wouldn't be conclusive either. Fingers crossed for you.

Moominmiss · 30/04/2021 13:32

I can see why you’re worried, I know it would have worried me too as on the top test the test line has stolen nearly all the dye from the control and on the bottom test the test line is a lot fainter.

Before you start worrying I’d try as another poster suggested and dilute some of your urine and try another test. There’s a possibility it could be the hook effect, although from posts I’ve read before that doesn’t usually kick in until later, more like 8+ weeks, if at all.

I’m not sure EPAU would scan you based on a lighter test, but you could try a private scan. I was lucky enough to see a heartbeat at a scan at 5+4, but bring so early there’s a high chance you wouldn’t get the reassurance you’re after.

You could always try your gp and see if they’d be willing to draw hcg bloods 48 hours apart to check if your levels are rising or falling.

Sending you lots of luck, I’ve been in your position and the stress is unreal. Remember there’s also every chance things are fine. It could just be different amounts of dye in each test.

Laura344 · 30/04/2021 14:39

I went out and bought a digital and that says 3+
The last digital I did was last Sunday and that was 2-3 so do you think I should relax and just stop testing now and just take the last one as a fluke? Booked an early scan for Tuesday so I’m fingers crossed.

Sunny1112 · 30/04/2021 14:47

Stop testing op! You’ve bumped up on digital.
Congrats on your baby Flowers

Laura344 · 04/05/2021 11:21

Went for a scan today and they couldn’t find any heartbeat and said I needed to come back in 2 weeks so guessing it’s not good news since I’m 99.9% sure when I ovulated and got a 3+ on clearblue 😭

How many weeks did they measure you?

Laura344 · 04/05/2021 12:21

@Sunny1112

No idea, just said that the gestational sac measured 17.8 and no yolk Sac or fetal pole so she said that indicates missed miscarriage and just said she would rescan in 2 weeks.

I have my fingers crossed for your scan in a couple of weeks @Laura344 xxx

EarringsandLipstick · 04/05/2021 15:19

Not necessarily OP. It's very early to see a heartbeat. Normal to rescan in a couple of weeks.

It's really hard but you need to stop testing (that's telling you nothing) & just wait & see. It's sadly impossible to say what the outcome is but you just have to take it day by day & go on the symptoms before you.

Good luck 💐

Ttcforever19 · 05/11/2022 12:03

Helllo, I hope all ended well? I am in a similar position and would like the honest outcome if possible please dxx

Lisababyy · 16/12/2022 03:45

Can I ask for your update? I’m also in the same boat and am very nervous.
