Hi all, how reliable are movements at this stage? On Monday baby was really active and my partner managed to fell her kick for the first time. However since then I have barley felt her again this week. I have had a really busy and long work week but starting to panic there may be something wrong. Do you think I should call someone or is it still to early for them to pay much attention?

@Leaf87 congratulations on your pregnancy firstly 😊 I’m sure my midwife told me last year that it was either from 24 or 26 weeks that you should feel regular movement but I can’t remember for sure. If in doubt you are ALWAYS better contacting someone. Even if it’s 3 times in one week or whatever...they honestly don’t mind 😊 if I were you I would give your local maternity unit a call and just tell them about your baby’s movements. They’ll either tell you when you should be feeling regular movement or they’ll ask you to pop in to get checked 😊

There are a few things you can try at home first (these are things the midwives always recommended I did before I went in to check movements). You could try having a bath, having an ice cold glass of water, gently poke/jiggle your bump. I can't remember the rest of them but if you've tried any of these and still not feeling anything I would call the midwife x

They recommend to me to have some chocolate and a fizzy drink and lie on my left side and see if I could feel anything. X

Thanks everyone, I have had a few movements but not as strong as previously, keep thinking maybe they have just moved and I can't feel them as well. May just pick up the phone as its been bothering me for a day or two now.

Most likely is baby has just shifted so you can’t feel the movements as strongly. They still have lots of room as still tiny, and move around lots.

However, the rule in pregnancy is - if you are worried, call the midwife/triage. They will either reassure you all is normal, or they will call you in to be checked out.
