Maternity exemption certificate

I was wondering if anyone has recently received their maternity exemption certificate and how long it took to arrive? I know that I can keep receipts and refund forms to get the money back but prescriptions and dental care mount up when you have hyperemesis 🤢 I’ve been waiting almost four weeks!

I received it by email after my booking in app for this pregnancy. In my first pregnancy I think I needed to apply myself.

I received mine in the post after my booking in appointment I was maybe 11wks?

Probably should have said I had to apply myself - neither GP nor midwives were forthcoming. GP receptionist offered to send me MATB1 and it took a VERY long time for her to understand that wasn’t what I was asking for.

My midwife generated mine online and it was sent to me within a few minutes. It might depend on the trust, but I'd ask again, or the GP who is prescribing your meds as they'll know you will benefit from one!

I'd get in touch with your midwife. She did mine at my 16w app and it was just an email.

Prior to that I had got prescriptions - they don't need to see it, they just ticked the box when I said I was pregnant, so I'd stop paying for them right now.

Yes, that was the advice I was given at the pharmacy last Tuesday and I was sent off without paying, but on Friday when I needed (yet another 🙄) prescription the different pharmacist on duty took exception and made me pay again.

Ugh. Looks like I’ll have to hassle someone to get hold of it! I even checked with the GP at an appt on Monday and he said ‘well, it’s been sent off, we just have to wait 🤷🏻‍♀️’

Cheers everyone!
