TMI Photo - is this my mucus plug?

I’m only 26+3 but I just went to the loo and had this (photo). I’ve not had much discharge at all during pregnancy, only some watery stuff and not every day. Was rather alarmed to see this and am worried it could be my mucus plug?! Would say it was about the size of a 10 pence piece.

It's probably just a bit of thick discharge, if you get anymore give your midwife a call, it's not blood stained which is good, have you had any tightenings?

rainydogday · 28/04/2021 22:31

Some discharge can be normal but if you are having watery discharge you should speak to your midwife. It could be your waters slowly leaking.

MintGreenLife · 28/04/2021 22:33

@MissSmiley thanks for replying. It did look slightly pinky to me. No tightenings no. Do you think if I don’t get any more it’s probably not something to worry about? I’ve only had the odd tiny blog of thick discharge here and there throughout my pregnancy, whereas this was quite a lot, but not masses. I did have some spotting on Saturday and again yesterday, but I have a polyp and was told it was most likely caused by that when I called triage x

@rainydogday I’ve had the watery discharge on and off since 12 weeks and I’ve mentioned it to my midwife and consultant and neither were concerned x

If for nothing more than to reassure you and to remove the stress of worrying about this, I'd give your midwife a call. It will be better for the baby to have a relaxed mummy.

MintGreenLife · 28/04/2021 22:39

@pinkmagnolias thank you, I think I will call in the morning just to check they’re not concerned, unless I have any more of course!

I don't think you should worry, if you aren't feeling any pains, it's probably just your cervix moving a bit, but your midwife won't mind reassuring you

MintGreenLife · 29/04/2021 09:08

@MissSmiley that’s exactly what triage said, basically not to worry if no pains etc. She said unlikely to be mucus plug and probably just discharge, whereas when I called about spotting over the weekend a different midwife said could just be a small amount of my mucus plug coming away but that it would regenerate itself. Funny the different advice you get depending on who you speak to. Anyway, I didn’t have anymore over night, so taking that to be a good sign x

@MintGreenLife that's good news
Is this your first baby?

MintGreenLife · 29/04/2021 09:17

@MissSmiley it is yep, so it’s all new to me! So far I’ve not had much extra discharge to be honest, so was quite shocked to get a random big blob!

MintGreenLife

Delighted to hear all is well.

MintGreenLife · 29/04/2021 10:14

@pinkmagnolias thanks :) I'm still slightly wary that it may be a part of my mucus plug, but from what I understand this can happen at any point and it can regenerate x
