Maeve
Niamh
Cara
We're not definitely going for an Irish name... but just wondered what people's thoughts were on these names?
Do you think the spelling of Niamh (pronounced Neeve) would be a bit of a pain?

It's so exciting to hear people's thoughts - thank you!! I'm pleased that some people also like Maeve as I know it's a bit more of an unusual choice. Cara feels safest/easiest, but can't quite let go of the other two!

When are you due BBB?

Denny185 · 13/11/2007 21:21

Love them all, Ive got a Kiera that should have been spelt Ciara and if DS had been a girl he would of been a Niamh, its on the short list for no3. Also like Eimear.

belgo · 14/11/2007 09:40

I also like Norah

MuffinMclay · 14/11/2007 09:40

I love Niamh, like Maeve, not keen on Cara.

nimnom · 14/11/2007 09:50

Love Maeve - very unusual.
The others are ok but Maeve is my favourite.

MerryAnnSinglemas · 14/11/2007 09:54

Cara is the nicest

daisynova · 14/11/2007 11:20

I prefer Niamh but as there are already two of them in my family then I can't use it.

I'm tending towards Welsh names recently but as hubbie and I are both Scottish then we wouldn't get away with it.

Cara is lovely - my mum used to call me that (it isn't my name) when I was little - does it mean daughter in Italian or something like that? (also means face in Spanish)

kittylouise · 14/11/2007 12:46

I like all three, but like Cara the best. Cora is a lovely name as well.

Sonnet · 14/11/2007 12:47

I have a Niamh who is now 6 - the unusual spelling, honestly, hasn't been the problem I thought it might....

don't be too afraid of names that aren't totally safe. you just have to accept that some people may have problems spelling it - big deal. i think maeve is lovely and actually pretty straightforward. we picked a name for dd2 that a lot of people find hard to pronounce, let alone spell, it's absolutely her and i'm so glad we didn't go for the safer alternatives (she is only 6 mo though so plenty of time for regrets later ;))

Dora is nice

Sarahjct · 14/11/2007 13:18

Love them all. I also love Dara for a girl but would be afraid that people would rhyme it with Tara, which would spoil it.

Or that she'd grow up to look like Daragh O'Briain!
