Club foot in Scan

Hi,

Yesterday my wife had her 20 week anomaly scan. The doctor said that our baby girl has club foot in the right leg. He said that from what he can see at the moment he believes it is isolated. He asked her not to google things as it can only add to the worry. So, naturally, I googled everything!

I am now worried from what I have read - that it can be associated with other things.

We have had our harmony test which came back negative for everything.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on this.

Hi @John91, my daughter was born with clubfoot in both feet, 5 years ago. It was also picked up on the 20 week scan and we weren’t given much info by the hospital at the time so naturally we googled and then panicked so I know exactly how you feel. We were sent for a more in depth scan to the fetal medicine department to determine if the clubfoot was in isolation or linked to something else - have you been offered this? I believe most cases occur in isolation so if you can have another scan it may put your mind at rest. Have you been given information about the treatment programme once your daughter is born? I remember feeling very overwhelmed at first but having been through it now, it really wasn’t so bad and if you stick with it the success rates are great. It hasn’t affected my daughter in any way, both feet have been corrected, and to look at her now you would never know. She does swimming, ballet and runs/walks with no problem. If you look up the Steps charity they have lots of useful info on their website. I’m also happy to answer any questions you may have, if I can?
