New bottle teats for number two?

Dim question alert! Mostly BF my daughter but did have a nice selection of MAM kit for expressing and serving (and the odd formula here and there too). Lightly used but used nontheless.

Likely to follow the same pattern for DC2 if breastfeeding goes as smoothly as for DD. The bottles etc have been in the loft in a really useful box for a year or so. I'm confident that washing, dishwashing then miltoning will bring most of it back into use but what about the teats? Can you tell if they need replacing, should I just do it anyway, or don't be silly and use them again? I'm less worried about the squidgy bit on my pump and my Hakka as they only really affect me as very limited contact with milk but not sure what the lifespan is on anything that actually goes in the child's mouth.

It's no problem to replace just trying to avoid waste/spending where it's not needed. I'll have to buy new if we end up doing more FF because we won't have enough bottles to keep on top anyway.

I wondered this too. According to the MAM website though you are supposed to change them every 1-2 months for hygiene reasons.

I bought new teats for number 2; I didn’t actually keep them after my first DC stopped using them as I knew I wouldn’t want to reuse; can’t really explain why but just somehow felt he should have new ones

Never even thought to look there and now I feel really naughty 😂

I think I will get some new ones then!

I would reuse bottles but not teats

If there is any discolouration of the plastic or tears/cracking then they should be replaced for new. Teats should be replaced often in general too.

I wouldn't reuse teats

Definitely going in the bin then. I'll check the bottles carefully too but they were very lightly used so as long as they have coped well with the storage I hope they'll be ok.

I'm now wondering about my Hakka as that's the same sort of plastic as the teats 🤔

They wouldn't have had that in their mouth though
