16 week midwife check at 18 weeks??

I was advised to book my 16 week midwife appointment once I had my dating scan, which I had yesterday and I'm 13+6 today according to their measurements.

I called to book the midwife appointment and the only slot I can book is on 26th May when I'll be 18 weeks!

I know my midwife told me it didn't matter too much if there was a week or so difference but just wondered if anyone knows if there'll be a big difference having it at 18 weeks and not nearer 16??

Either way nothing I can really do as I can't magic up another appointment, but just wondered! Thanks :)

No it won't make a difference. The time between the 12 and 20 week scan is long and boring IMO, I think I saw the midwife at 16 weeks then not again until 24 ish weeks.

I had my 16 week appointment at 21 weeks, nothing between booking appointment and then, wasn't happy about it but don't think it matters

It'll make no difference.

I find it strange you have to be the one booking. All my appointments are booked automatically through the trusts digital system, most letters are digital too. I'm consultant led but the local midwife team sent me an app to see them at 36wk not long after my dating scan.

They don't do much at the 16 week apt. Midwife will discuss your blood results (but they will have told you if there was anything wrong beforehand), see how you are doing, mention stuff about movements and what to do if you notice certain symptoms etc, basically probably all stuff you already know. And if lucky you'll get to listen to the baby heartbeat with a doppler. So there's no difference in it being at 18 weeks rather than 16, it's not time sensitive like the 12 week screening tests.

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday at 16+1 but that's only because I had to have a blood test at the same time. I was told to make the appointment myself with the surgery for anywhere 16 and 18 weeks as there's nothing that's time specific. My next one is 25 weeks.

It doesn't matter. Many people have to have the dating scan later than 12 weeks, so I think this is not beyond the realms of normality.
I was told at my bloods booking (8w) that my next appt was at 16 weeks but it'd be over the phone.

Ah thanks everyone that's good to know. Wasn't really sure what they did in the appointment!

I had my 16 week appointment last week at 17+5. I don't think it matters too much x

I actually didn’t have my dating scan u til I was 17 weeks and 6days I have my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow and will be bang on 19 weeks which my midwife has already moved once so I’m assuming it’s not really a problem x
