Hi!
I’ve been to see my preterm consultant who wants me back end of May to check my cervix length. If they aren’t happy they suggested a possible stitch.

Has anyone had one and it was successful? Or anyone opt / prescribed meds instead?

Seems threads on here people were given meds over a stitch.

Thanks x

My consultant was really not keen on the stitch. I think it depends on the length of your cervix and past history. What was your length?

I’m 18 weeks and it was 35? They like 29 or above.
I’m not keen on stitch considering I’ll be 23 weeks then!

Hi, 35 sounds really good to me! Although as Mrsmch says I guess it depends on your history. I'm 13 weeks and had 2 previous lletz procedures, so pretty sure my cervix will be short. Consultant won't scan until 16 weeks and then recommends stitch only if under 15mm (from what I have read 25mm is normally the cut off).

I'm sure you'll have seen the "short cervix club" threads on here, but if not they might be useful to you, lots of people sharing experiences of getting the stitch etc. I was actually just scanning through to see if there was anything similar more recently and came across your post!

Oh fab thanks!
I had my twins at 29 wks due to a shortening cervix which was picked up on a route scan! And then had a dramatic birth so I’m highly advised to have a section this time also!
Lots to be cautious about but hoping it’s twin thing and not me thing 😀
I’ll have a look at the thread you suggested x
