Hi just wondering if anyone has given birth here recently and what the Covid restrictions are with visitors? The website is very vague about the new visiting protocols.

Thanks

I haven’t had a baby there but I’ll be doing it when the baby comes later in the year.

Birth partner only during labour and on the ward.

For outpatients/scans, they try to accommodate your one person but they may ask them to wait outside the building until it’s your turn, as the waiting areas don't allow for distancing.

No kids, face coverings mandatory.

@Mrsmch123 I had my baby end of last month at Qeuh. It was partners for 12 & 20 weeks scan only and my dh came in for the whole c section (pre op in the morning and then in recovery)

If you have a natural birth I'm sure you've to be in established labour first before partner comes in.

I did attend mat assessment a few times and partners could come in once you are in a bed bag

@Mrsmch123 also once baby is born you get taken to the ward yourself and a visit time is assigned for your partner which is a 2 hour slot

Thanks everyone. I'm due July so hopefully things have eased a little more. I seen that they haven said you are allowed an additional visitor does anyone know how long they are allowed to visit for?im thinking i will given my husband the extra visitor space so he can stay longer after the birth obv if it works in with timings ect

GRI have started w designated visitor scheme for the full hospital as of yesterday. It's an hour slot, same visitor, pre booked daily.
Maternity have been allowing this throughout so that makes me think maternity May relax slightly and allow your 1 visitor in for longer period of time 🤞🏻

@Mrsmch123 - just wanted to know how you got on at this hospital as you were due in July. I hope it all went well and would be grateful if you could share your experience x

Hi my waters broke on the wed but my contractions never started so was booked in for induction on the thur. My contractions started early thur morning and I waited it out until it was time to go in. My husband was allowed in with me "to get me settled". I went in at 11am.I was Covid tested then placed on the ctg machine. About 30 mins later they checked me and I was 6cm so sent to the labour ward And husband was allowed to stay. We were there from around 13:00 baby arrived at 15:00 and I was transferred at 20:00 to post natal ward at which point my husband had to leave. He had to phone at 8am to book his visit. There was three slots available he choose the 10 til 1. He was then allowed a second visit which was 3 till 5 I'm sure. We never needed the second visit as I was discharged. For us things worked out well with the timings hopefully things are the same for you!x

@Mrsmch123 - Thanks for the reply. So are they trying to discharge women within 24 hours? It’s good to know about the visiting slots just so I’m prepared x

julzx · 11/08/2021 17:03

Following... im due in december and hoping things will be a bit more relaxed!

Been ok so far with partner allowed at the scans ect... im booked for a section on the 20th December im hoping hell be able to stay with me before and for a little after

Mrsmch123 · 11/08/2021 17:38

@Parentingdilemmas they were trying to discharge people ASAP. I only had to stay till 3pm as I had gestational diabetes and my baby needed to be monitored for 24 hours post delivery. @julzx I would imagine that things would be even more relaxed by then. My friend had a section in may and her husband was allowed in before, obv during then 2 hours in recovery then was sent home until the next day x
