I’m 7 weeks tomorrow and just got my scan and first midwife appointment through (at a midwifery hub in person). I assume the first is the booking appointment but on the self referral it said the first would be on the phone. Was this just during COVID that they haven’t updated? My first appointment is only 10 days before the scan. Seems a long time to wait.

The first appointment is basically filling out a massive form where they ask loads of questions about medical history etc. They also take blood and measure blood pressure. Lots of trusts have been doing the question asking over the phone to reduce the amount of time you're inside with the midwife.

Sorry not sure that really answered your question! I had a random phone call around 8 weeks then went in for a face to face a week later, but they might ask you everything at the face to face.

My trust is currently doing a quick appointment to take bloods etc. then a phone call for booking doing all the medical information stuff.

Lots of trusts have been doing phone appointments during Covid, particularly for booking. But I’d just give the maternity hub a quick call for clarification as everywhere is doing things differently and I’ve had lots of issues with information being contradictory and not up to date, particularly in written correspondence. So always best to call. Best of luck!
