Late period

Just wanted to ask a quick question as I don’t know whom to ask really. In February my period was late for about 8 days, I pretty much had all the pregnancy symptoms but my test was negative and called my doctor on day 5, he told me to wait another week and retest again, I then later had a very heavy period. My period is late again this month and I want to know if this has happened to anyone before? My period is never late is usually on time - also I had a dream a few nights ago that I went to a scan and was pregnant 😂 so yeah just need to help really, thanks x

It sounds like you had a chemical pregnancy.
I had a chemical last year and it took 40 odd days for my cycle to go back to something regular - my 31 day cycles turned to 35 days.
So there may be a chance things aren't back to normal yet

I think it's unlikely that you had a chemical pregnancy if you had a negative test, or you have a negative test this cycle. Having had a few chemicals, you do get a line on a test with one even if it's faint. Most early pregnancy hormones are caused by progesterone, which is the same hormone that causes PMS.

Even in people with regular cycles, ovulation can and does vary sometimes. The length of your menstrual cycle depends on when you ovulate, so if you ovulate later than normal your period will come later. For some people, having a longer follicular phase (e.g. because ovulation gets delayed) will lead to the lining of the uterus has more time to thicken, which can cause a heavier period.

That’s interesting, it’s never happened to me before so it’s taken me aback slightly. I’ve not done a test yet as I’m waiting to see if it’ll come later on
