What app does my partner need to download to register a negative lateral flow test prior to me going into hospital to give birth?

My midwife mentioned that there was an app. I’m wondering if it’s a national app which is needed for this. Does anyone else have any experience? Especially if you’re in Dorset. Now partners need a negative lateral flow test prior to coming in to hospital if I go into labour. The hospital don’t provide them so we were told to order our own tests online. We have the tests now, and I was told that the tests are only valid if we’re using the app on his phone... whatever that is!??

You don't need to use the app. You can just submit results through the website www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

I just use this site

All the app does is streamline the process so that you don't have to reenter your personal details each time

@Einszwei if there is a streamlined app which he can download to not have to waste time entering in details I think we definitely want that because we’ll be in a rush! Do you know where we can download it because I can’t seem to find it!

It’s the nhs covid 19 app I think, the one you might have downloaded over the summer for track and trace if you did the eat out to help out!

We’ve not downloaded any apps before as in the beginning they had a bit of a reputation for being a bit rubbish and then when summer rolled around last year we just stayed inside and didn’t go to any restaurants! Up to now it’s been a bit of a habit to just avoid everyone and not go anywhere so haven’t used an app yet.

Just search for that app in App Store then, hopefully it will come up. It’s blue with white writing.

Pretty sure you can only add PCR test results via the NHS Covid app, for which you get a special code sent to you which is what you input into the app. If you open the box up their are full instructions on what to do, so I guess if there's an app it'll be mentioned in there.

I do twice weekly lateral flow tests and enter results on the www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result website.

You can save time by making an account in advance, but you will still have to enter the reason for the test, date, test barcode (or scan the QR code on the test) and result for every LFT taken.

Remember you have allow half an hour before you read the result - so will need to test as soon as any labour signs start, or be testing several times a week around due date.

Yes, @sohypnotic is absolutely right - the NHS Covid app (the one you can use to check into venues, and turn on contact tracing) can only log PCR tests - they’re the ones you have up send off to a lab.

I’m not aware of any apps where you can log a lateral flow. You just register the test result on the website as linked to in several past posts, and you can create an account so you don’t have to enter quite so much info. But it only takes a couple of mins to register any test results.

Think you need to check back with the midwife as it’s really unclear what she’s on about.
