Morning sickness

Wondering if anyone has had their morning sickness peak around week 6? I am 6w4d and have felt like death all day everyday and can't function for the last week and a half. Should I still try and prepare for that 8-9 week peak? I already feel like it can't get much worse. 🥲

Mine was awful from 6 weeks to 13 weeks continuously... no peak as such just generally awful!

Now 14 weeks and it’s subsided! Hang in there! X

Hi Decbaby , I’m only 3weeks pregnant and feel absolute shit! For the past week I’m gagging every morning literally feeling sick all day the smell of food turns my stomach . Dreading the peak of this , haven’t told my OH yet and it’s so hard trying to seem normal so I feel your pain!

weeks 5 -13 were a nightmare , I missed food so much , basically lived off one meal .

Somehow those weeks are a blur .

Same here! Although I do feel progressively worse. Yet somehow I’ve managed to gain weight! It’s probably due to the fact I can only stomach food that I don’t have to smell, so processed crap Confused

Yep mines was from 5.5-11weeks with the odd days after that. Felt like death warmed up. Can safely say it subsided for me in 2nd tri which I think for majority it does. Now at 19 weeks I don't even feel pregnant bar the odd ache and looking like I've enjoyed all the pies. It does get better so hang in there.💗

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! Glad to know it won't get much worse just have to deal with it for another 7 weeks 🥲

Hey @decbaby I’m in the same boat I’m 6wks +5 I think and I’m so sick! Can barely concentrate at work (although working from home) - did you take any time off during this time and did you say to your work that’s is was because if pregnancy? I didn’t want to tell them so early!

Also when did your sickness ease up cause I miss food sooo much and I’m barely eating! :(

coffeewithmilk · 12/07/2021 16:07

Mine was its worst between 6-8 weeks.
I feel generally not 'too bad' now (currently 10+4) but I do get a few times where it comes back quite bad for a while.
Hoping I'm over the worst of it

I feel your pain. I found sucking on a lemon really helped xx

@Tand123 congrats on your pregnancy!

Everyone keeps saying it but, it really does get better. Hang in there!! I did end up having to tell my boss around 6 weeks because I couldn't hide the sickness. I didn't take any time off, since I had a desk job and can pretty much hide in my office most days.

I would love to give you advice on what helped but nothing helped until my doctor gave me meds. My saving grace was getting Zofran at my 9 weeks appointment. I was able to eat a little more and actually function during the day. I am 18 weeks now, and I wouldn't say my appetite is completely back but I can eat most food and enjoy it again! And I don't have to take meds. Still throw up in the mornings sometimes, but it doesn't linger all day anymore like it used to. My turning point when I started feeling better and not needing to take meds was about 15 weeks.

I hope you feel better soon!! It will be worth it!

Hi @Tand123 - congratulations on your pregnancy but so sorry you’re going through it with sickness. I reached the point where I couldn’t carry on at 7 weeks and told my employer. Good thing, really, as then I was diagnosed with HG and didn’t work for three months 🙃 Anyway, if your employer knows then your sick leave can’t be used ‘against’ you in any way. It’s recorded separately as pregnancy related illness. But I totally understand the fear of telling them so soon.

Hoping you aren’t as unfortunate as I was, although I echo what everyone else says - eventually you will get through it and it will hopefully begin to subside in a few weeks 🙂

I had it from 6-18 weeks. Luckily my business closed due to covid because I literally couldn’t function! Even when it’s really really bad it does get better. I’ve successfully put all my weight back on and some… and food is amazing again!
