Anyone had the same...

I was just wondering if anyone had gone through a similar thing to the following and had any explanation!

I have a regular cycle but ovulate late; using ovulation strips they normally peak day 20/21 of a 28/30 day cycle. The day of the start of my last period was the 12/03 but I had down that I ovulated on the 01/04. Anyway I got a positive test on the 12/04 about a week later I had a bit of spotting and so went to the EPC that gave me a scan which showed nothing and tested my hcg levels. On the 16th my levels were 800 they tested again on the 18th and they were 2000. They booked me back in for a scan today which I had that showed a gestational sac measuring 7mm but nothing else. They took my hcg levels again which came back as 14,000.
So based on that they should definitely be able to see more and have said that it's very likely not viable. I have another scan on Thursday to confirm.

It's my first pregnancy and so I'm going to take away the good things that I can get pregnant and we will try again when we can. I think what I'm finding most confusing though are my hcg levels and how much they have risen. I just wondered if anyone had anything similar? Ideally I now want to miscarry as soon as possible as I feel worse that I'm still feeling pregnant and just having to wait. Thanks for reading!

There are specific hcg cut-off levels where a sac/pole/heartbeat should be seen in a viable pregnancy (with an internal scan) and yes more than just a sac should be seen with levels as high. I like your positive attitude, this was how I approached my own situation a year ago when what was seen on the scan did not correspond with hcg levels. The embryo did appear after a while, but it was developing very slowly and didn't make it past 8 weeks measuring way behind. I wish you the best, there are cases where mistakes (by your sonographer, or hcg laboratory) happen, but best to be prepared for any outcome. Take care.

Hi @anniebu thanks for your reply. Yes I'm prepared for the worst. It's been hard as we were so excited to get a positive and then with the increasing hcg levels on Sunday we were feeling really positive. I'm sorry to hear about your pregnancy. I just want this week to be over. Can I ask do you remember your hcg levels at all? I hope you've had success since xx

Hi I have recently had a positive test, I have been to get scan and nothing was seen as they state a could be to early due to irregular cycle, I then had bloods done repeatedly and I am now 1700, had a bother scan done and now only the lining has thickened since my last scan.

They told me that at 1700hcg something ing should be visible on my scan.

I’m wondering if anyone has ever experienced this where nothing has been visible with a high hcg but then went back to another scan and everything has been ok?

Thank you
