Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with an ectopic pregnancy?
What symptoms they had and what prompted them to go to the doctors?

Thanks xx

I had 2 both ruptured and I lost both tubes

First time I had some niggling one side pain. Didn't feel like pain I had experienced with previous miscarriages. I knew in my heart something wasn't right. I managed to get a scan via EPU - they tried to give methotrexate but I ruptured 4 days later. The pain was the worst thing I've ever felt - literally writhing on the floor unable to speak or stand pain

Second time pregnancy seemed to be progressing normally, got a 3+ on clearblue digital, hcg was doubling as it should. One morning I picked up DD and I felt a one sided pain again and I just knew what it was. Hospital refused to take it seriously but luckily my IVF clinic saw me straight away. Heartbeat was seen in my tube and they called an ambulance- I ruptured a couple of hours later

Mine started with light bleeding. More than spotting, but no clots etc. I had pain on my left side, but relatively high up. The hospital told me it wasn't related to the pregnancy and most likely a kidney infection and gave me antibiotics.
I kept bleeding. GP told me I was miscarrying and if it continued for more than 10 days to call her back for an urgent referral.
It did carry on. I was really bloated and my most common pain was feeling like I really needed to poo, but I couldn't. Walking felt concussive, but around my bum... it's really hard to describe! Some days I felt awful, others, I felt fine. Then suddenly everything felt really squashed inside my groin - sitting down, it felt like my insides were touching each other. Again, really odd description. I called my GP and was finally referred to EPU (2.5 weeks after the bleeding started) and I had ruptured. Had a tummy full of blood and was taken straight to theatre to remove my tube.
I didn't believe it was ectopic as I thought I would have shoulder pain, which I didn't. If you are concerned, push to be seen :-)

My ectopic was spotted after I had some slight bleeding. The GP checked my HCG for a few days and sent me to the early pregnancy unit for a scan. It was treated with methotrexate.
