Hi, I'm 35+3 and although I'm in no hurry to start leaking it's my 1st and I'm wondering it's normal to start...if I start later, could that make it hard to bf?..all new to me!

Mine didn't at all - until I had ds and then all was fine and he took to breastfeeding like a duck to water - so try not to worry!

IdrisTheDragon · 12/11/2007 21:45

Mine didn't with either DS or DD and they both breast happily .

ruddynorah · 12/11/2007 21:45

Mine didn't either before or after birth and I b/f both mine until they were two!
Don't worry kelbel

My boobs didn't leak until I got bfeeding established (about 4 days after the birht) and then really only at night or if baby missed a feed. In my antenatal group only 2 women had leaky boobs, so it's more usual for them not to leak.

It emans nothing aobut your ability to bfeed, what you're leaking is colostrum anyway and your milk proper usually comes in after a few days.

JeremyVile · 12/11/2007 21:49

This is all these silly pg magazines (that I was addicted to ) they present everything with a time line like it's a definite.
I remember being concerned that I didnt have leaky boobs too.
They never did leak, it's perfectly normal.

Upsidedowncake · 12/11/2007 21:52

I squeezed my boobs and got some colostrum at about 37 weeks, but actually that is supposed to be rather bad for you.

dd666 · 12/11/2007 21:53

im a minority then i started leaking about 23weeks!
i had to invest in breastpads early.
bf 6weeks think my milk was super thin tbh

whomovedmychocolate · 12/11/2007 22:09

Mine leaked at about 20 weeks and leaked copiously by 30 weeks every time I heard the cat washing itself

But honestly it does not matter one iota. Your milk will arrive properly AFTER your baby.

mears · 12/11/2007 22:13

Some women leak - some women don't. It has no actual bearing on whether you can breastfeed or not. Leaking at any stage does not affect the amount or type of breastmilk you produce. Don't worry - just enjoy not having to wear breastpads just now.

RGPargy · 12/11/2007 22:22

37+6 here and no leakage!

chipmonkey · 12/11/2007 23:15

NEver got leaky boobs. Was quite disappointed but bfed very successfully!

NorthernLurker · 12/11/2007 23:20

am so jealous - I've always been pretty leaky and it is a pita! Can't even comfort myself that it made breastfeeding easy as - as many have said - it has no bearing on it. This thread has reminded me that I have been buying breast pads for nearly a year now. I don't even want to think how many that is.......

robinredbreast · 13/11/2007 18:53

mine never leaked when pg and still dont 5 months in and still bf no leaks in sight,aLTHOUGH I HAD A HELL OF A JOB BF BUT THATS NOT THE SAME FOR EVERYONE,LEAST YOU SAVE MONEY ON PADS
