Stretch and sweep query

Hi ladies,
My consultant gave me a stretch and sweep 24 hours ago and I had a lot of cramping/show/braxton hicks for about 8 hours after. It's now fizzled out and just having the usual regular braxton hicks and a bit of a show. My question is does this mean it's failed as contractions havnt started yet? If you had a successful stretch and sweep did things calm down before starting up?
My bishops score yesterday was 7 so doctor said I had a good chance of it working but obviously there's no gaurentee.
This is my 3rd pregnancy, I've had one previous section at 33 weeks after my waters broke at 32 weeks and a VBAC at 35 weeks spontaneous delivery after waters broke first. I've never gone into labour with just contractions before and I'm now term so this feels like the longest pregnancy ever after two prem babies. Very grateful though to have reached this stage.... Just ready for this baby to be born now!

For my second sweep at 40w5 i was a good 2cm dilated, cervix soft and forward. Cramping a bits of bloody show followed the sweep then all stopped. Midwife was convinced i would go into labor within 48hrs. But 48hrs passed and nothing. But two days later on the Sunday morning started regular tightenings / braxton hicks and more mucus plug, that also stopped by 5pm. Finally and unexpectedly at midnight waters broke and active labor started immediately. Baby born at 6am.

So i would say start and stop can be how early labor is!

Had sweep at 39weeks at 1.30 had bloody show straight away. Was 3-4 cm dilated when she did the sweep. Had no signs of labour until waters broke at 16.45 the following day baby born at 19.12

Thanks for sharing your experiences ladies 😊 no movement yet on my side, over 48 hours now since I had the sweep, still getting period type cramps and lots of braxton hicks but just the same as I've been having for ages. Back in on Tuesday for another so 🤞 that'll work if nothing happens before.

I was already 2cm and had been having painful regular contractions for about 5 hours by the time I had my sweep. So I am not sure if the sweep did anything to change the progress of my labour or not given I was already in early labour when I had it. I ended up giving birth about 24 hrs after the sweep.
