Hello,

I'm just wondering how long it took for you to get your combined testing results back for Downs, Edwards and Patau syndromes. I had the tests done at my 12 week scan which was over 2 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything!

Thanks

I never did hear anything but eventually found the results in the app. Last time round I got a letter so not sure if they are only doing that now if high risk or just an oversight.

On the maternity notes app they are in the SWHMR Antenatal section under blood tests.

Oh god I didn't know anything about an app! How do you even get that haha!

I was told that I’d hear by telephone within 3 working days if I was high risk, otherwise I was told to expect a letter within 2-3 weeks. I got a letter within 5 working days - low risk

I got a results letter about a week later.
How you get results differs by area so ask your midwife what's the norm for yours.

I was told 5 working days if it was high risk and then a letter if not. No time frame given on the letter.

Thanks everyone. So it's good I've had no contact! But then I would like confirmation to put my anxiety at rest ha 🙃

I have no idea if its been rolled out everywhere or not, I am in Scotland. But I'd give your midwife a call and ask her to 1. Check if she can see your results (should be on their system) and 2. If there is an app. You should be given a number, i.e. 1:12000 for each of the 3 conditions so just a no news is good news approach isn't fair.

Hi, I was just wondering how long blood test results take from having them done at 1st midwife appointment.

I had booking app when 9 weeks pregnant so had bloods taken on 3rd March. It is now 24th march has my 12 week scan but not heard anything from my blood tests?

Is this normal not to hear anything or do I need to chase them up?

Thanks

Passanotherjaffacake · 24/03/2022 19:58

I got the booking blood results at my next midwife appointment - 16 weeks I think? So don’t think you need to chase.

The bloods at the 12 week scan are different and they can vary. I was high risk and had a call less than 24 hours later, was really surprised they were so quick! Previous pregnancy was low risk and that was a letter 7-10 days later.

mummyh2016 · 24/03/2022 20:02

@Boopsy89 you won't normally hear anything from your booking bloods unless you need to, ie my ferretin levels were low so I had a message to say a prescription had been sent over for iron tablets. It still took a couple of weeks though.

Boopsy89 · 24/03/2022 20:10

@mummyh2016 thanks for the reply! It's been 3 weeks since I had them but not counting weekends it's been 2 weeks. It's rare I have bloods so having them done for things I've not been tested for before it's making my anxiety go through the roof. If there was something wrong or abnormal with the tests would I have a message then? Where did you get the message....through the my pregnancy notes?

mummyh2016 · 25/03/2022 13:21

@Boopsy89 no I just had a text off my doctors to say a prescription that had been requested by my midwife had been sent to the chemist so I text my midwife to ask what it was for.

RebeccaCloud9 · 25/03/2022 13:23

Google your hospital - mine says 2 weeks if low risk, within 1 week if high.

Boopsy89 · 25/03/2022 14:04

@RebeccaCloud9 my hospital website doesn't show any info like that. Can't get hold of my midwife left messages and my doctor's said they won't get my results as it's the midwife who requested them so she will receive them
