Tens machine

Hi, I don't know if anyone can help.

I am considering getting a tens machine for labor, I have heard mix reviews of that it's only good in early stages of labor but not so good when contracts get more intense.

What experiences have you had with them? Are they worth it? Are they easy to use?

Thanks x

Early stages only for me definitely. But I needed a lot of pain relief . Not everyone seems to

Highly recommend during early labour. Bought from Lloyds pharmacy 🙂

I had it on throughout. I just left the boost function on all the time at a certain point (they were coming thick and fast and I wasn't concentrating on pushing the boost button). I was asking for more pain relief ('give me all the drugs!!!!!') as I was crowning. I'd totally lost the plot by that point.

Tbf I went from 3-4 cm to having a baby in an hour and fifteen minutes... so things were, um, intense. They examined me and said I was 8cm and within three minutes I had the urge to push.

The tens was a lifesaver until I was in 'active' labour. Didn't do much for me after I reckon I was 6 ish cm.

Waste of time for me, but I was induced on drip so went from 0-100 and was very intense!

I know of others who really recommend so maybe worth a try ☺️ X

I personally thought the distraction of it and the control of pushing the buttons etc at the start of each contraction was good. I used it for both of mine, first was on drip though so had to take it off when I wss put on constant monitoring (not allowed off bed, wires everywhere)... second used it right up til i got in the pool and no other pain relief at all. Will definitely have it packed for DC3.
