Sneak peek at 17 weeks - girl?

I ended up doing a sneak peek at 17 weeks (I wanted to find out, husband didn’t). It came back girl. Does anyone know how reliable girl results are?

I believe girl predictions are more likely to be wrong just because obviously it could be a boy hiding or in an awkward position. However if they got a good look you can see the difference. My first was a girl (which is what I was told it would be).

Am I wrong in thinking sneak peek is a blood test to be sent off rather than a scan?

At 17 weeks I’d have done a scan at a private clinic or wait until the 20 week nhs scan to be told the sex of the baby. As now you’ve paid out for the sneak peek you’re worried it’s unreliable! Surely a private scan would have been cheaper?
