Early scan shows baby at 5 weeks....

Wondering if anyone has experienced this and can share your outcome... hoping for good news stories.

This is my 3rd pregnancy, I already have 2 lovely boys! I found out I was pregnant 24th March and had an early scan yesterday (thinking I was around 7+wks), however the scan showed development of only 5 weeks.... she could see fetal pole, sack and yolk and said everything was in proportion and it looks like what she would expect at 5+ weeks but doesn't match my dates so I have to wait 10 days and return to see if baby has grown or not. I last had sex 5weeks ago today and therefore couldn't see how I could only be 5+ weeks.

I have been lucky enough to never miscarry before and this is my third pregnancy. I have been so emotional since yesterday and my husband is trying to tell me to be positive but its just such a shock as I have had no symptoms of anything being wrong & it is consuming my every thought.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? How can I be 5+ weeks when last time I had sex was 5 weeks ago 😭

Don't know if this will help reasure you but I had any early scan with my second pregnancy and they told me I was about a week earlier than I thought. Fast forward to my 12 week scan and I was actually 13 weeks exactly and my original dates were correct. The person who did the early scan had got it wrong.

My second was miles behind what I thought, about a week from memory - the fertilisation isn't a definite mid month it can be much later - good luck
