Hi, i'm new to this website and really could use some advice. Since last wednesday (5 days ago) ive been having brown discharge, its not enough to fill a pad but it seems to be there all the time and i notice it most when i wipe. There have been a couple times when ive wiped and noticed a watery pink colour instead, and yesterday when i was straining for a poo (sorry TMI) there were a few red drips of blood in the toilet. I had a look to check if it was definitely coming from the front and it is. Anyway so i called 111 after 3 days hoping for some reassurance but the dr basically said 'your body is preparing to miscarry and should complete it in the next few days'. Obviously this has left me heartbroken and im planning to call my GP tomorrow to see if he can refer me to the EPU for a scan :( Has anyone else been in a similar situation and what was your outcome? It would be great to hear your stories (good or bad) so i know what i might be expecting...

Hi @Canadadarling sorry I can't be any help at all but in a similar situation. I'm only 4/5 weeks but have had some spotting sometimes red usually brown. I went to the doctors because I also had some cramping and they tested my hcg levels, they were 790 on Friday and tested again today and have gone up to 2000. I was fully prepared that this was a miscarriage but then the increase of hcg has confused me. They have booked me in for a scan on Thursday. I've being reading up and sometimes bleeding indicates miscarriage and other times is seems it doesn't. Fingers crossed for us both!

Hi, for me in my first pregnancy the miscarriage did start off like this. We had seen a heartbeat but the baby was a bit small at 6 weeks, and then I had brown spotting which later turned red and then it was confirmed at a scan at 8 weeks. I miscarried naturally at 9 weeks.

Having said that though I read so many stories on here where people had brown, black and red blood and everything turned out fine. There can be lots of different reasons for the bleeding, but I think you should be prepared that it could go either way.

I hope it works out for you 🤞🤞🤞

@Cafeaulait27 I’m so sorry to hear that. I have read some of the stories where people have bled and been fine but I am prepared for the worst tbh, I think the not knowing is worse for me. Hoping I can get some answers soon 🤞🏻

@Canadadarling I'm so sorry you are going through this. I was in the exact same position this time last year. Found out I was pregnant on Easter Monday & soon after started with brown spotting when wiping. I had a scan at 5 weeks which showed a yolk sac but no foetal pole. Was due to go back at 7 weeks for another scan but sadly miscarried at home the night before. I had brown spotting leading to red then clots by the end with lots of cramping.

I really hope things turn out differently for you but if the worst does happen I'm sending love to you Thanks I'm now 9 weeks pregnant so there is hope after loss x

Sorry but yes this has happened to me 4 times, and each time it ended in a miscarriage. Sorry I can't be more reassuring. Best wishes.

I had this sort of bleeding and much heavier with my successful pregancy with my daughter - constantly from 7 weeks until around 12. I had a patch of internal bleeding that eventually went away. It doesn’t always spell the end of a pregnancy and is in fact quite common.
I did also have two prior miscarriages with bleeding.
Good luck, I hope the epu will see you.

thank you for all your responses. unfortunately the bleeding got worse so i went for a scan at the EPAU and i have lost the baby :( Its a horrible situation but i am hopeful that i can try again when me and my partner are ready Flowers
