Have I "dropped" yet?

Hi all, I'm 37+3 and I had an appointment at the hospital 2 days ago as midwife couldn't say for sure what position baby is in. The hospital confirmed she is head down. The sonographers words were "I can see why the midwife couldn't tell accurately what position she was in as baby's head is very low down now".

Does this mean she has dropped? I don't really understand the terminology. Is dropping a completely different concept. I'm obviously very eager to see if I'm progressing into early stages of labour now and would love to know if she has quote on quote "dropped" 😊

I'm a sonographer, I wouldn't be able to tell from a scan of a baby had 'dropped' I'm afraid. If I said a baby's head was low down, that's all I would mean. But, your sonographer could have been a midwife but background (I'm not) and know much more!

okay that's very interesting! thanks for sharing that. first pregnancy and the terminology gets wrapped around my head! Suppose either way it's a good sign that her head is low, closer to getting out the better right 😄
