On my 3rd chemical pregnancy so finally been offered help. I can try again next ovulation and this time soon as I find out will be given the pessaries anyone had any success stories as I thought low progesterone levels are irregular periods but mine have always been fine? Is it worth trying again ?!

I had an early miscarriage in Oct 20 and when I fell pregnant again in Dec 20 I was given pessaries to use until 12 weeks. I am now 21 weeks and all is progressing well so far. I'll never know for sure if it was the pessaries that made the difference or not but fingers crossed it works for you too 🤞🏻

Lucyf1995 · 15/04/2021 17:06

I used pessaries for my little boy and my current pregnancy (7 miscarriages) worked for my little boy and it looks like it's working so far with this pregnancy as have made it to 10 weeks! Smile however they never gave me the preserves until they see a heart beat on ultrasound. With this pregnancy I even had 2 scan which I saw the sac, then the yolk then the heartbeat on the third one in which they then prescribed me progesterone x

Fawn68 · 15/04/2021 17:08

I had 2 miscarriages last year. Now 13+1 and been on progesterone since 5 weeks! And all so good so far fingers crossed. I always had very regular cycles even between miscarriages too so I don't think progesterone is linked to irregular cycles.

Aw good sounds like it may work for me too. She didn't mention the pessaries at first just said I'll have early scans and things next time but she said then because I never make it to 6 weeks it's been 5 weeks the last 3 so next time start the pessaries soon as when I find out next time that I am pregnant. In a silly way I was hoping the problem will be my hormones as it seems the first thing they look at and easily rectified so 🤞

Awww I really hope they work for you!! I'll keep my fingers crossed! I know 7 is mentally draining before I had my little boy I thought it was game over I'd never have kids, then he came then I got pregnant twice after him and lost them then this one has hopefully here to stay!! But I couldn't have anymore as I couldn't go through anymore miscarriages again it's to emotionally draining like you said xx

I haven't got any children yet and to be honest I think I only want one . Well hopefully will have one. I don't think I could go through the stress. Because my partner wants a baby just as much as me makes me feel like a disappointment every time and that I'm letting myself and him down it's awful. But I'll be positive and hopefully pessaries will work 😊 hope everything goes well for you too xx

I'm on my 4th pregnancy after 3 losses so I'm currently on 200mg of utrogestan twice a day. I'm really hoping it makes a difference this time!

charlotte0808 · 15/04/2021 19:42

Hi @worrybug93 how far gone are you now? X

OP posts:
worrybug93 · 15/04/2021 19:44

@charlotte0808 I'm only 4+2 weeks, the farthest I've ever made it was 10 weeks before I started bleeding so I'm trying to keep my legs crossed and keep this one inside 😂

notalwaysalondoner · 15/04/2021 19:56

I had 2 miscarriages and got progesterone pessaries, I think I started taking them around 5-6 weeks. I'm now 25 weeks. I also took baby aspirin once a heartbeat was confirmed until after my 12 week scan.

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 11:52

@notalwaysalondoner only now seen your reply. Did they start you on pessaries because of the previous mc? Epu told me I could have them soon as I get a positive test but then someone else told me they would have to make sure it's a viable pregnancy first but I never get past 5 weeks so how they could do that I don't know just hoping I won't have to beg and fight once I'm pregnant again x

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 18/04/2021 12:26

After 4 miscarriages I was given a scan at EPU when I was 5+4. They saw a heartbeat on that scan so prescribed 400mg cyclogest pessaries a day to take until 16 weeks.

I’d even had blood tests done after my third miscarriage which showed my progesterone levels were really good, but they said it wouldn’t do any harm in taking them.

I did also start taking 150mg aspirin a day from 1dpo after doing my own research on it.

I’m now 18 weeks pregnant and if I’m honest I credit the aspirin rather than the progesterone. But I think that’s because I didn’t need the progesterone anyway.

Progesterone does seem to work for lots of women though so hopefully it will for you too! Good luck

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 12:50

@Moominmiss that's good I'm glad it's going well for you.. I've read a few people have had the pessaries from bfp but some not until ha a scam but I never make it to that stage. So I'm hoping the woman I spoke to in epu will stick to her word. I did research on aspirin and bought 75mg but then a few people told me not to take unless prescribed as it could do damage at implantation stage and that worried then because I would like to start the aspirin my self same as you really after ovulation just to literally give anything a go. Think I should? Seems to have done the job for you because wouldn't they prescribe aspirin for sticky blood isit? I'm sure it's either progesterone or that for me, soon as I implant it just doesn't stick and I loose x

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 18/04/2021 13:08

@charlotte0808 hopefully you’ll get prescribed the progesterone as soon as you get your bfp. I’m sure if you speak to someone there when the time comes they will help you.

Like you I wasn’t really making it past 6 weeks previously.

I obviously don’t want to tell you to start taking the aspirin but I’d done lots of research of my own and read so many stories of women in the same situation as me who had taken it and it had helped.

I also read a few stories where it had helped with implantation. Like you said it can be prescribed for sticky blood syndrome in which case the aspirin would be needed in order to aid implantation.

My consultant has since said if I hadn’t already been taking it he’d have started me on it. There are lots of threads on here from women who have taken it and had it help.

Also 75mg was the old nhs recommended dose, the new guidelines are 150mg.

I wish I’d tried the aspirin earlier as I do credit that in helping me stay pregnant.

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 13:24

@Moominmiss think I will start then I have 75mg so that's ok just to take 2 a day then same isn't it? I feel with more help and a few changes I feel more positive about it. X

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 18/04/2021 13:37

@charlotte0808 yes that’s what I take. 2 x 75mg a day xx

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 13:37

Did your gp keep you on 150mg? X

OP posts:
charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 13:38

Oh ok fab thanks soooo much? It's great that their is so many women who are in the same boat and can have advice off feel not alone x

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 18/04/2021 13:45

Yeah my midwife and consultant both recommended the 150mg and that’s what I’ll be taking until 36 weeks.

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 13:53

Brilliant thank you. Can aspirin harm you if not needed? Lol I'm bit paranoid I am x

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 18/04/2021 13:58

@charlotte0808 my consultant said that at such a low dose it can’t cause any harm but might be what’s needed and do some good.
So basically a win win with nothing to lose!

Moominmiss · 18/04/2021 13:59

I ummed and ahhhed for ages over whether to take it. I thought about starting it just before my fourth loss but didn’t, which I regret. Then after I lost that one I vowed I’d try anything!
