Progesterone pessaries

On my 3rd chemical pregnancy so finally been offered help. I can try again next ovulation and this time soon as I find out will be given the pessaries anyone had any success stories as I thought low progesterone levels are irregular periods but mine have always been fine? Is it worth trying again ?!

at my appointment with the specialist I asked about aspirin and was told to wait for my blood tests first before taking any but you're right i don't think it can cause any harm. The only reason I was told to wait and see if I need it was because it can cause much more severe symptoms if you get covid

Happinesscomesfromwithin · 18/04/2021 14:07

Ive been put on oral progesterone to take at 2dpo until a bfp and then will continue to 12 weeks or if no bfp will stop and wait for af and then next month again will take at 2dpo. This will be more beneficial for you keep suffering from chemicals.

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 14:10

That's how I feel now I am willing to try anything at this point as I'm so fed up with the same thing happening. I work in a care home get tested twice a week for covid which still wouldn't prevent me from catching it I know. maybe they have to tell you to wait to cover their own backs maybe? I've read about so many women taking aspirin and said it's worked. I feel unsure about it but I'm gonna start it like you did after ovulation then If I am pregnant see about my pessaries then I'll tell them about the aspirin

@Happinesscomesfromwithin ahhh so I could have it before bfp? I've spoken to a few from epu and I feel I'm just chucked aside all time. As I was bleeding heavily with mc I didn't miss my appointment with them and they were awful rude with me. What would I ask for if I ring them tomorrow? X

OP posts:
charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 14:13

That wouldn't be something I would ask my gp for isit

Ask your gynaecologist for it. I take the oral progesterone it's called duphaston. Not sure of the English equivalent but you can Google it.

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 20:36

Fab thank you

Happinesscomesfromwithin · 18/04/2021 20:42

You're welcome! Wish you all the best x

blackcurrantqueen · 18/04/2021 21:34

@charlotte0808 have you been referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic? There are more bloods etc to rule out reasons behind them

I have had four biochemical pregnancies so like 4-5 weeks. After having my DD with no issues.

I've had bloods and scans and nothing's shown up!

I asked for progesterone and she said there was no evidence but they would prescribe it for me if I felt it would make me feel like I was doing something. I said yes please. So I've been instructed to take it from positive test xx

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 21:44

@blackcurrantqueen I haven't seen anyone yet but been referred to a specialist I'm awaiting a letter with dates for my bloods. Only had thyroid bloods so far which are fine the first lot will be the hormone one but I started bleeding Wednesday just gone so have to wait 5 weeks for them but epu told me I can start trying again on my next ovulation which will start next weekend. I'm worried that I will try again and conceive and they won't give me the progesterone pessaries like they said they would. Just overthinking and worrying I am x

OP posts:
charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 21:46

Who did you ask for progesterone your specialist? Because I haven't seen one yet but epu lady I spoke to said that she would give them to me?

OP posts:
blackcurrantqueen · 18/04/2021 21:48

@charlotte0808 yes I asked the consultant at the appointment.
I would ring back if I was you and ask who you would get it from. If they say your GP then ask for them to set it up and send the details over. They should understand your anxiety.

Yes I had to wait to have all my bloods done until my hcg was less than 4. X

charlotte0808 · 18/04/2021 21:51

Ok I'll ring epu tomorrow and ask. Did you say you took them before pregnancy or when you had positive test? Also do you need the pessaries with the tablets? Sorry for all the questions 🙈 x

OP posts:
blackcurrantqueen · 19/04/2021 06:09

@charlotte0808 so I've been told to do the pessaries from a positive pregnancy test

I've not heard of people being given the tablets at all in the UK xx

charlotte0808 · 19/04/2021 06:12

Have you been given both? I'm going to ring today just for my own piece of mind I'd like to have them ready xx

OP posts:
blackcurrantqueen · 19/04/2021 07:19

@charlotte0808 no only pessaries x

Cafeaulait27 · 19/04/2021 09:25

I had 2 mcs last year, I then started taking 150mg of aspirin from ovulation and progesterone from 6 weeks. I’m still taking both now, progesterone will run out at 16 weeks.

I am currently 14 weeks, had a great 12 week scan and this is the furthest I’ve ever got, so I would say it’s worth doing both especially the aspirin.

The aspirin is seriously nothing to be scared of, I was a bit worried too but there are no risks to mum or baby. It thins your blood so that nutrients can get to the baby easier.

Apparently a normal dose of aspirin is 600mg so 150mg is still really small. Good luck! Xxx

pumpkinpie01 · 19/04/2021 09:38

@charlotte0808 I had 3 miscarriages in a row, I had no trouble getting pregnant just couldnt get past 6 weeks I had so many tests and everything came back fine. I did so much research and I became almost obsessed with progesterone being the answer. The consultant would not give it to me she said the body naturally makes it when pregnant, my Dr wouldn't give it me as he did not have any knowledge on the subject. I then had an appointment with a different consultant who just prescribed it as soon as I asked for it saying it was worth a try. That ' worth a try' turned into a heartbeat at 6 weeks and is now the most amazing little 7 year old. If you have someone willing to prescribe it try and have it on stand by, also they are best taken rectally :)

charlotte0808 · 19/04/2021 09:42

Hey @pumpkinpie01 I literally just came off the phone to epu and I've begged for them early as my anxiety is through the roof. She did say to me "yes I remember you and you don't make it past 5 weeks so you I'll ask the doctor and ring you back" so I'm hoping I can have them ready for when I get a positive test again as I ovulate next week and wanna make sure I got them x

pumpkinpie01 · 19/04/2021 10:29

That sounds hopeful then , if they aren't keen to prescribe really push for it but it sounds like you won't have a problem . Pretty sure I took aspirin too. I remember all to well how stressful it was I really feel for you , good luck and keep posting let us know how you get on .

charlotte0808 · 19/04/2021 10:47

I'm going to start the aspirin 1dpo like the other lady mentioned. Either way won't do no harm so I'll try it. Oh it's awful so many of us been in the same situation. Thank you so much ❤️

Cafeaulait27 · 19/04/2021 11:24

charlotte0808 · 19/04/2021 11:37

@Cafeaulait27 I'm definitely gonna start it thank you! I am actually hoping I ovulate this month as I lost Wednesday just gone I only just thought about would I ovulate if I still have hcg in my body I'll take a first response later just to check cause that's the most sensitive isn't it x

OP posts:
Cafeaulait27 · 07/05/2021 17:50
